I didn't talk about the reviews specifically, I said that the "franchise has been on a steady decline since RE4" and that one of the mistakes they were making was having major content that was entirely digital. It wasn't a statement about reviews or quality of gameplay, but a statement about quality overall. I don't know about digitized content, but it still sounds like RE7 is doing quite well for itself. I haven't seen any major complaints about anything about it. I frankly don't care about how well RE7 is or isn't doing. I don't follow the series at all. However, my point about DLC and the experience being lost in the future still stands.

Not an expert in that. Care to explain? What I'm talking about is a singleplayer experience that we can expect a player to want to have ten, fifteen or twenty years after release. My issue is that when these parts of the game are completely digital, they will be impossible to experience for players in the future after the means of distribution have been shut down.

Yeah, that's how they get you. Remove content that has existed in the past while keeping the price the same (somehow they managed to increase it to $60, though), and then making you shill out more cash for the missing content. For me, that news irks me even more. $16 a year for Pokemon Home plus all of the added benefits, plus the cost of online services, plus the DLC content with a whopping $30 price tag (3/4th the price of a full game in the past), plus the cost for those that had been using Bank to store Pokemon already and were stuck without a way to transfer them to the new games (so they basically just paid twice to transfer Pokemon...). Oh, and the GTS which was not present is being included through this? IV judge is also locked behind a paywall? WTF.
All of these hoops, and so much money (which a large amount would be from kids/teens) milked, just to get Pokemon from older games? That's all that a lot of the players are going to care about for the most part.
No, just no. I've been on the fence on SWSH before the games even released, but I always told myself that I'd pick up the game eventually at some flea market or through a private channel. Well, now I can say with confidence that I'm done. Until Gamefreak backpedals on all of this with the next titles, or Nintendo yanks control of Pokemon from them to another company, I'm not supporting it. Shame, because I originally purchased a Switch for Fire Emblem and Pokemon.
That's my opinion, at least. I'll condone those that still love the game, though. I just can't...

So I guess the new stuff these games offered never mattered in the first place, huh? Gotta love entitlement.

So I guess the new stuff these games offered never mattered in the first place, huh? Gotta love entitlement. I don't know who the hell this was even directed to, but I find this sentiment to be absolutely ridiculous. People are going to decide whether or not to spend money on something based on its price and how much they want it. In other words, the quantity demanded is where the price falls on the demand curve. It's one of the most basic foundations of economics. There's no "entitlement" involved in this decision. If the games were free, it could be considered "entitlement." If the purchasing power of each and every person was unlimited, it could be considered "entitlement." When the games are $126 when including one of the two versions, all of the DLC, and one year of additional subscription services, each consumer has to decide whether they should pay $126 for Sword or Shield or use their $126 for a different need. Perhaps, instead of purchasing Pokemon Sword and all of its functionality at their current prices, they would rather purchase Pokemon White, White 2, X, Alpha Sapphire, and Sun on the used market instead, a year of Pokemon Bank, and pocket the remaining $12.85.

So I guess the new stuff these games offered never mattered in the first place, huh? Gotta love entitlement. :) I could spend hours writing a response defending my opinion, though I feel no need to considering my choice to not support the game will not prevent others from making their own choice, as I've already said. So instead I'll use my trademark form of sarcasm.
So I guess that if something is "new", it should be immune to criticism/negative feedback. Money doesn't matter, because it is Pokemon. Add a few new 'Mons (minus all of the old ones you loved), add a new gimmick (and remove the ones you [probably] liked), apply a real country as the region (and hope it fits), maybe sprinkle in some nostalgia with some regional variants, and boom! Masterpiece. You expected better? This is Pokemon, baby! They'll buy anything with a Pikachu on it. Duh.
Gotta love [insert word that I think I understand and apply it to whom I disagree with].
:D
Sorry, that one paragraph actually had a little bit of effort put into it. If I can't put effort behind my sarcasm, I'd be doomed.

So I guess the new stuff these games offered never mattered in the first place, huh? Gotta love entitlement. They turned the IV checker, a feature that was freely available in the previous games, into Pokémon Home Premium exclusive. But yeah, I'm just being entitled because I don't want to pay $30+ extra the get the full experience of the game. I have bills to pay, you know. I can't afford to get multiple subscription services you smug fuck.
