I do like the fact npcs refer to you as champ after you become the champion.

I like the fact that the player character show actual fucking emotions now.
That blank faced stare really made it hard to take things seriously when the MC showed up in serious cutscenes.

Well, looks like the Pokémon Direct today brought a lot of interesting things for these games! - An Expansion Pass has been revealed, along with two new DLC packs called Isle of Armor and The Crown Tundra.
- Two new Legendary Pokémon were also revealed.
- Kubfu is a Fighting-type Legendary that evolves into Urshifu with two forms. It is exclusive in Isle of Armor.
- Calyrex is a Psychic/Grass Legendary.
- The existence of new Regis was also revealed.
- New Galarian Forms were revealed for Slowpoke, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
- Galarian Slowpoke will evolve into Slowpoke in Isle of Armor and Slowking in The Crown Tundra.
- New Gigantamax Forms were revealed for Venusaur, Blastoise, Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon.
- More than 200 Pokémon who were cut out of the original games will appear in the DLC, so congrats to the Dexiters, because Game Freak's clearly listening!
- The free updates allow for all previous Pokémon to appear through trades, etc.

Going to go ahead and stop this before this starts again—no fighting, please. Thank you.
Now, honestly, I think this is really cool, though I do have mixed feelings about it. This is honestly a way to get more and more money out of people to complete a game that honestly should have been completed to begin with. I’ll definitely be getting the expansion pass (mainly because I got the games basically for free in the first place), but I think they should release a complete game first, even if they do have to delay it.
Moving on, I have really liked SWSH, and these expansions look really fun. It does seem like they’re hinting at more expansions in the future, so we may actually get all the Mons in the game eventually, but I do prefer this over making a third version. Looking forward to playing them.
Also, really cool that they’re making new Regis and Galarian forms of legendaries.

I saw someone on Twitter make the excellent point that this will be the first time substantial pieces of a main series Pokemon game will only be available digitally, meaning that assuming people return to play SWSH in ten years the same way lots of people still play Gen IV and Gen V today, there won't be any way for them to experience this part of the game.

Well, if you download them, I think it just stays on the game, even if you start a new save file. At least, assuming you have a cartridge. We really don’t have the tech specifics to be sure.

Assuming you buy the game and the DLC by that point, of course. Likely that the DLC will be a patch stored on the Switch's memory, I don't think you can write to the cartridges. All the save data is on the console, from what I understand. It's the same issue as a lot of games these days, but for a franchise that's traditionally timeless, this hits especially hard.

I mean, it’s not like Pokémon is the first franchise to do this, and they certainly won’t be the last. It’s the changing times, unfortunately. But even so, Pokémon has also been the franchise that will basically make you buy the game again when they release an upgraded version, or even a remake. This is honestly a bit of a better strategy. Sure, Pokémon can be timeless, but ever since 7th Gen, I’ve found that once I beat the story, I don’t always come back around to playing the games again, unless I’m doing a Nuzlocke. If they’re working to keep these games going instead of just making new ones immediately the next year, then this is still a step forward in a certain way.

You can't expect even the most timeless of franchises to be permanently immune to the same types of issues as other franchises. As time goes along, there's always going to be some pothole in the road.

We've also got new human characters for "The Isle of Armor"! Courtesy of Bulbapedia: "Mustard hosts a dojo dedicated to Pokémon battles on the Isle of Armor. He is Leon's mentor, and he was also the Galar League Champion for 18 years at some point before him, before Dynamaxing was incorporated into League battles."Klara is a rival exclusive to Pokémon Sword. Avery is a rival exclusive to Pokémon Shield. There's also official images of the new Pokémon: Kubfu:Urshifu Single Strike Style:Urshifu Rapid Strike Style:Calyrex:
