Digging deeper it looks like I've hit the jackpot. There are over 100 unused items in the game's code that are left over from previous generations. They do nothing on their own, but with a bit of editing there's a lot I can probably do with them. New evolutionary items, new Mega Stones, etc. Two words. Mega Pichu. Do it. XD

XD That would take some serious hex editing but I thiiiiiink it's possible. Would be a lot easier if they hadn't removed the spiky-eared Pichu from the games' code; then I could use that as a base.

I hate it when they put non-transferable Pokémon into the games. Like the Contest Pikachu from ORAS. It just seems pointless when you have to leave certain Mons behind.

Mentioning them reminds me of a little fun fact. There's a lot of evidence in the game's code suggesting that the Ash Cap Pikachu variants are just reskins of the Cosplay Pikachu. Each has six forms and they even use the same internal ID numbers.

Like they always make new Pikachu cards, but Pichu hasn’t gotten a card since 4th Gen.

I haven't made too much progress lately on account of working on porting everything over to Ultra Sun, but I did find some fun new tools to mess around with. Currently I'm looking into replacing the textures of items in the bag. Here's a preview of the sprite I've been working on; anyone want to guess what it is?

Been making some changes to the type chart.
Ice now resists Ground, Flying, Water and Dragon. It is also hit neutrally by Rock instead of being super effective.
I also like a suggestion I saw on Reddit to make Grass resist Fairy. Goodness knows it could use that buff.
I would love other suggestions for changes. What types are underpowered? What types are overpowered? Are the changes I made terrible ideas? (I mean they probably are, but I'll need to hear it to accept it ;P )
Edit: Fairy no longer resists Bug. I didn't even know that was a thing, but that just shows how little love Bug gets.
Edit 2: Water is now weak to and resisted by Poison because water pollution. Not sure if this change will stick around, as it's basically a death sentence for Primarina.

I've turned Stakataka from a bulky attacker into a literal wall. Nothing can stop him now.

I retextured Sunflora to fit its new typing. It looks alright, I guess.

It's pretty impressive, even if my editing ability isn't the best in the world. There are even ways to swap in completely new models to replace the current ones in the Gen 6 games, but apparently that capability hasn't made it into Gen 7 yet. In terms of texture work, people have done some amazing things. There's even a guy who retextured Mega Latias and Latios so they have their original color palettes instead of that awful purple hue.

So, have I broken Ledian yet?

I ended up nerfing Tail Glow, as I didn't want Ledian to be too unstoppable. On the plus side, I almost feel safe enough to start giving it to more Pokémon now. For those unaware, Tail Glow is often considered to be one of the most broken moves in the game, as it grants +3 to Special Attack for free, which basically means you can max the stat out in two turns. It's 90% of the reason why Manaphy is in Smogon's OU tier. And I just gave it to a Fighting-type special sweeper.

I always thought that it was a 1 or 2 boost (from my shaky memories of using it on my beam team back in Sapphire).

I figured that was a bit too over the top, so I reverted it.
