So, some interesting info from Serebii:
Variety and Hollywood Reporter are reporting that the movie studio, Legendary Pictures, has won the rights to make a live action Pokémon movie and will begin in 2017 with a movie based on Detective Pikachu, the Nintendo 3DS game that was released earlier this year in Japan. The movie will be distributed by Toho in Japan and Universal outside of Japan.
I really don't know how I feel about this...

A Pokémon movie would require so much CGI, and if they decided to make it live action (which I bet they'll do with this Detective Pikachu movie), it would just look tacky. I'd really prefer they didn't make this, though I suppose there's a chance they'll do well. I know people are saying they want Danny DeVito to voice Pikachu, but I kind of want Robert Downey, Jr. or Bennedict Cumberbatch. XD |

Whilst the idea of "Pokemon" and "Live-Action" don't really mix together in the same sentence, I'd actually be interested to see how this Detective Pikachu thing would work out. I think a decent story (and a shitload of CGI - like Gavin said) it could potentially be an interesting film.
Although I dont expect any blockbuster hits or any bank-breaking from it, I can expect to be entertained especially as it can be full of niche references making it a throwback to the 90s when Pokemon was at it's peak of popularity
