Not to stir the conversation into a different topic but...
I would have like to have seen how this anime tackles the whole TM/HM thing...

To say kids aren't making time for Pokemon is kind of... untrue? I mean, kids wake up early just to watch Pokemon, they want the T-shirts and the plushies, they play the games, etc. Pokemon might not be as big of a fad to the younger generations as it was for my generation at least, but if anything they have way more time on their hands to watch cartoons than we do... that's extremely flawed logic right there. They're kids with no responsibilities other than to enjoy life. We work and go to school and do other grown up things. Also, most adults outgrew Pokemon a long time ago. We're not exactly in the majority. It's extremely annoying to us older fans, but I'll say it again and again; we're not the show's target audience and we probably never will be. And it's a cartoon. It doesn't make sense and it's not logical and it probably never will be. We need to just accept that. Ash is 10 and will probably always be 10. It doesn't make sense and frankly it's not supposed to. The plot is constantly being recycled to appeal to younger generations, to teach them the lessons we learned as kids and to keep them engaged with a main character they can relate to. I say this mostly because I remember being a young kid and really admiring Pokemon, and Ash especially as the hero of the show. Obviously, as kids, we aren't going to understand the messages right away that are obvious to older people. But when we grow up they may still be relevant to our lives. The show teaches kids to work hard and keep working towards goals and to lose honorably and many, many other important lessons. It's really unfair that we were able to grow up with Ash and his adventures and that, selfishly, we want to deprive younger generations of that experience. It's frustrating to watch a character you grew up with stay the same while you change, and I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy if they did change him or make a new anime with older characters and more mature themes. But Ash and Pokemon have always been with us since we were children. Let him be there for children now. I think the special is kind of a nice homage to older fans who have stuck around for so long and still think fondly of Pokemon. But, I'm sorry, to say that young kids don't have time to watch Pokemon or don't care about it anymore is really stupid. xD ...Well, that's a good point too, but sooner or later, they're gonna have to face the changes and age Ash a little, maybe not now, but definitely later. You just ignored what she said about it being not for the older audience. It's for the younger audience. Even the storyboard director believed Ash shouldn't age, because they want to bring in more kids to the show. He's been 10 for almost 16 years. It's never been about us, it's been about getting the KID demographic. Not to stir the conversation into a different topic but... I would have like to have seen how this anime tackles the whole TM/HM thing... Doubt they will, but if they do... Red will make them eat the CD.

Exactly what I was gonna say. Thanks for the help anyway, guys. I'm trying to get an emulator. Anyway... Who else do you think might show up in this special?Team Rocket sounds like a pretty good bet. Maybe a darker and more sinister version of them!

Well they were in the game. Hmm... Giovanni almost assured. I mean Red did disband the organization once.

Pokémon is and ALWAYS will be for the little kids, and nothing can change that, and to do so would upset the natural order of things. However, I would like to add that maybe a compromise can be in order for the older fans. They can keep the anime for the little kids, but grant us a more mature show, or at least something that will appeal to us, like the Origins special (except extended into a series that they can probably show on some other channel).

Might I add that little kids will watch shows set for older audiences regardless. Most of the time that's because the parents don't realise that it isn't for kids. So many people think that just because it's an animation that it's perfectly fine for children. Well those people are a bunch of dumbasses.

I agree :3 Like Dbz for example, Dragon Ball Z is for teens :3 but the fact they made Dragon Ball Z Kai for kids just annoys me -.-

I still remember having to try to convince my parents that the anime I was watching wasn't "just cartoons". I can promise you that some of those "cartoons" I've seen would give kids nightmares for a week straight.

Lol Higurashi, Elfen Lied, Hellsing, Berserk, Akira, Blue Gender. Probably several more but those are the ones that kinda jump out.
