From what we know from the preview Lance and Brock are going to make appearances. Who else do you think might show up in this special?I'll bet Misty will at least appear, and hopefully the other gym leaders too. And of course, Giovanni will have to be there.

Why should there be a brown-haired Misty, Pichu? What's wrong with orange-haired Misty?

If this continues and it involves all the dex holders, it would be amazing!! This isn't based off of Pokemon Adventures. Although an anime based off GenV wouldn't be that bad...

I'll be honest with you guys, I'm also starting to think that replacing Ash is pokemon's best bet, considering they basically threw his experience and knowledge from past events out the window. If pokemon wants to really get successful, they should stop adjusting to target younger audiences that don't even have the time, or interest, to actually watch the new anime. If they really want more fan base, maybe they should focus on the current fans and not younger audiences who don't have the common sense for most things and say they don't understand the gist of pokemon when it's staring them in the face. Hopefully, Red and the rest of the game dexholders are what the anime needs to draw some more attention. I mean, let's be logical here, assuming that there was an interval of a month or more in between leagues, there is no realistic way that Ash could still be ten. Like I said, the younger generations don't really care for an old show acting young. I've also read somewhere that Pokemon: The Origins will be a special. As much as I said, Ash isn't really a lost cause though, there's still the X and Y season to try to win is back. I hope this doesn't affect our views on AdvaceShipping and that we will still be the closely knit band of misfits who want to lock Ash and May in a closet until they confess their love fore each other (though this idea doesn't apply to everyone, it's just... ...Nevermind, you know what I mean). Obviously, Red will get a Pikachu at some point, but what do you think his other pokemon will be? Will Leaf be included? What about Yellow? Will I ever stop asking these kind of questions? Any guesses on what team rockets place will be? Do you think red will have an actual speaking line since he's a silent protagonist? I saw a really nice fic of Red, so I'll post the link. www.fanfiction.net/s/7001716/1/Speak-Up

To say kids aren't making time for Pokemon is kind of... untrue? I mean, kids wake up early just to watch Pokemon, they want the T-shirts and the plushies, they play the games, etc. Pokemon might not be as big of a fad to the younger generations as it was for my generation at least, but if anything they have way more time on their hands to watch cartoons than we do... that's extremely flawed logic right there. They're kids with no responsibilities other than to enjoy life. We work and go to school and do other grown up things. Also, most adults outgrew Pokemon a long time ago. We're not exactly in the majority.
It's extremely annoying to us older fans, but I'll say it again and again; we're not the show's target audience and we probably never will be. And it's a cartoon. It doesn't make sense and it's not logical and it probably never will be. We need to just accept that. Ash is 10 and will probably always be 10. It doesn't make sense and frankly it's not supposed to. The plot is constantly being recycled to appeal to younger generations, to teach them the lessons we learned as kids and to keep them engaged with a main character they can relate to.
I say this mostly because I remember being a young kid and really admiring Pokemon, and Ash especially as the hero of the show. Obviously, as kids, we aren't going to understand the messages right away that are obvious to older people. But when we grow up they may still be relevant to our lives. The show teaches kids to work hard and keep working towards goals and to lose honorably and many, many other important lessons.
It's really unfair that we were able to grow up with Ash and his adventures and that, selfishly, we want to deprive younger generations of that experience. It's frustrating to watch a character you grew up with stay the same while you change, and I'm not saying I wouldn't be happy if they did change him or make a new anime with older characters and more mature themes. But Ash and Pokemon have always been with us since we were children. Let him be there for children now.
I think the special is kind of a nice homage to older fans who have stuck around for so long and still think fondly of Pokemon. But, I'm sorry, to say that young kids don't have time to watch Pokemon or don't care about it anymore is really stupid. xD
