I tend to usually like the first girl introduced
I have a feeling I'll be on Houki's team. That's the first girl right?

Yeah, but Charlotte's a pretty cool girl as well. Just to warn you though, Cecilia is really annoying.

I've heard of Gantz but haven't read or watched it yet. not sure why I haven't though.
And I agree with Anthoneey, that a great starter list Hiram. Have you watched Full Metal Panic? There are scenes in that one, especially one of the sequels Fumoffu and an OVA, that can always make me laugh. Although most of the humor does come from the main character coming from a pure military background and virtually no social experience putting his knowledge into normal everyday life. Although Bonta-kun is also quite funny. As for crying, while I'm not sure if they would be manly tears, conversely there's Clannad's sequel Clannad~After Story~ where there are a few scenes that can always make me cry. But it's still a great series and one of my favorites.
Right now though I just completed Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai!! and High School Dxd while finishing up Hellsing. Majikoi, the first one, was rather unique simply for it's ability to go from hilarious perverted humor, to dead serious, back to perverted humor, and cycle that throughout the series. Storyline wasn't overly great but it made me laugh. High School Dxd was a surprisingly fun watch, not overly funny or anything so I'm not sure exactly why I liked it but it's probably not for everyone. Finally with Hellsing I've heard and seen a lot about Alucard and decided to finally watch it. It's not overly great, but a bit of a darker vampire series and rather thrilling to watch. And thankfully it's the real types of vampires and not the glittery ones that people have been getting used to these days...

I've never heard of Gantz until now, xD @lucifer - Yup.. And why do we often aim for the harems? ;p Full Metal Panic: I have not, but ironically it is the next series I'll watch as soon as I get my pc back. ^^ And about Clannad.. sigh.. I feel like I'm missing out here..! I've put this on hold, but I'll try to finish it. It'll be interesting to see if I'm going to cry, much like how my classmates thought they would never cry. Obviously they did, but I doubt they watched seriously and only watched it 'test' themselves. Majikoi was, like you said, very interesting with how they switched the atmosphere all the time, still not making everything turn awkward. Especially the scene where a certain someone was on the verge of death, only to be 'healed' in a very special way.. My my.. you have to be the first out of 10 people I've discussed anime with that haven't gone nuts with their obsession for the show's main girl, Rias. Even though I might turn out the same once I've watched it, I doubt that.. Once again, I've never heard of Hellsing, the reason probably being its age. However, I've already gotten interested because it doesn't have 'today's vampires'. xD
