They probably will just to get more money out of the franchise but there's no announcements as of yet.
And is there really that much of a difference between the DS and DSi games? The 3DS difference is obvious but the DSi really seemed to just add a camera that IMO is kinda pointless compared to even a cell phone's camera.

Well, in my opinion I think it depends...
As you know, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are the remakes of the original generation, as HeartGold and Soul Silver are of the second one. However, we can see that not only they did it because fans wanted them to be remade, but because they were forced to remaking these games. In the third generation, there was a huge complain from the fans about why they couldn't achieve to complete the Pokédex with just the Ruby and Sapphire versions. That's why they did the Red and Blue remakes, in order to fulfill the Kanto dex, but the Johto dex was still missing, so they made the enhanced Emerald version, allowing players to get the starter Pokémon from Johto and catching the legendaries from the Johto region like Lugia and Ho-oh.
However, this wasn't enough.
With the release of Diamond and Pearl, things complicated even more, with more Pokémon to collect and still without the possibility to complete the Pokédex completely. That's why they did the remakes of the second generation, including capturing Pokémon from the Johto, Kanto, and even Legendaries from the Hoenn region, like the Weather trio.
It would be nice if they decided to do a remake from the third generation. Those games were one of the best I've ever played. However, I think that they would need a true motive to remaking these games apart from the pressure of the fans.

Well it has been 8 years since Emerald was released. Maybe if we wait another 2 years they might. They always seem to released the remakes on their 10th anniversary of a game.

The remakes aren't released on the 10 th anniversary. FRLG came out 8 years after Red and Green while HGSS came in the 10th anniversary. A single instance isn't enough to say it's a pattern.
At this point, a RS remake is unlikely. Maybe in the sixth gen but that would also break the 'pattern' of remaking a game after 2 generations. Again, it takes more than a few instances to determine a pattern. At this point, remaking games after 2 generations is merely a coincidence.

It be pretty nifty for the remakes to comes out but I think it'll be unnecessary b/c 1)You can still transfer your Pokemon from G3 to G4 to G5 2) It'll feel irrelevant since Isshu/Unova is supposed to be a far away region and it'll feel out of place for a region of Hoenn to be featured plus Gen5 is like a reboot-region. 3) Feebas's evolutionary trait is now trading w/ a scarf (IIR) instead of feeding it w/ PokeBlocks... Wes from Pokemon Colosseum would like to have a word w/ you...

Yeah, they took the Shadow Pokémon concept from the Colosseum game to the next level, by using a Pokémon that fits perfectly with that and created an intimidating but really cool design. I remember that I played XD a lot, all because I wanted to meet that badass Pokémon at the end of the story.

Curse you, bad luck! XD Then you missed something really epic. I was so impressed by that Lugia that I didn't care about purifying it, so I left it in his shadow state. My friends called me a fool, but I regret nothing! XD
