@yoh: It's hard to say. I don't fully agree with PETA, but their basic point is fairly sound. A vast majority of media in the modern world encourages violence, either subliminally or prominently, and the last thing we need in this world is another generation of violence... Sadly, PETA's point is not so much anti-violence as much as it is anti-animal cruelty. PETA is a notoriously violent organization that has ties to other animal liberation organizations that the FBI considers to be domestic terrorists. If it means promoting anti-cruelty, PETA will do just about anything. PETA could care less for the welfare of human beings and its members will tell you flat out they care more about animals than they care about people. They're an embarrassment to all animal rights activists, vegans, etc. out there. I wish PETA would devote its time and $30 million budget to legitimate causes, such as dog fighting or actually taking care of the animals they "rescue" (at least 90%, if not more, of the animals that PETA takes into its shelters are deemed "un-adoptable" and are put down). I personally don't think Pokemon encourages violence at all. None of the lessons I've taken away from Pokemon have taught me that hurting animals is okay and, as far as I know, no one else except people like PETA have really made a big deal out of Pokemon battling. PETA doesn't care if your children are beating up other children--they only care about animals.
