Now that this is the official discussion thread... XD I’m honestly not really interested in the remakes, partly because I’m not a huge fan of the art style and I never actually played the originals (I have them, just haven’t played them yet. Might do a Nuzlocke on them, though). However, I don’t think they look that bad. Could have been way worse, to be honest. HOW have you not played them if you actually HAVE them? The games are fifteen years old. Get on it! |

Tbh I agree with Thanos here, not that much interested into BDSP, main cause is that for now, it doesn't really look that great, but.... Once it comes out we'll see, on the other hand, Legands look quite Decent, as for the starters, Cyndaquil is also quite Decent, of course that could have been better, but doesn't matter, the problem is..... Will the remakes be up to mark? Cuz the SwSh came out in 2019, an many people say they were rushed, so..... This is technically I feel is going to be more rushed up, then again, what now? Will there be a dex cut, if yes, then I'm not playing it for good, we also need to get Mega Evolution for some Mons, so for now, I'm not clearly 'happy', cuz Pokemon is releasing 3 Games (counting Snap) and the possibility is they all can be rushed up... Well, the thing is, different teams are working on them. A different, smaller studio is doing the remakes while the main Gamefreak is doing Legends. |

No WONDER these games look different compared to previous remakes. There's a different brass this time around. According to this article, the studio, ILCA (short for I Love Computer Art), previously worked on Pokémon HOME, so at least they have some prior experience with the franchise. They've also worked on other games like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Yakuza 0, NieR: Automata, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, and Dragon Quest XI. I've got mixed feelings about this too. On one hand, I wish Game Freak devoted their attention on the Sinnoh remakes instead of outsourcing them, since they're the games fans have been clamoring for for a long time and the pros therefore should've been on top of it. But on the other hand, it's clear Legends is their passion project of the day, and it actually shows since it looks better compared to the remakes judging by what I've seen. I just realized that these games were described as "faithful remakes". See, the word "faithful" gives me pause. Like, exactly how faithful? Will we still get a bunch of new stuff in these games other than the updated graphics, or will they literally be word-for-word DS-to-Switch translations?
Like someone accurately said on Tumblr, why would anyone want to pay extra money for these games if all they can do is whip out their DS from the closet?

The Gen 4 art style is kinda goofy but I don’t mind it, I’m glad it doesn’t look like Sword and Shield because tbh I found those games ugly as fuck lol

On one hand, I appreciate the reference, but on the other hand, it gives off a bad impression that the games are going to be kid-friendly and therefore pretty easy, which is not what a lot of fans would want. |

Cynthia is considered one of the strongest champions in the franchise by the fanbase for a reason after all. |
