I'd say it's the idea of it becoming a fire/dark, which would be unique and honestly, can you really screw up another cat Pokémon? XD With fire/dark/steel being my main types, Litten becomes my obvious choice, just like how last game Froakie was my obvious choice for that sweeeeet Water/Dark type. Before that, I was almost always the fire-type guy. Not that I always follow that code, I chose Turtwig in the fourth gen and sometimes Tododile in second gen. But if they want me to choose freely, they need to make the starters feel equal. Like I think the grass starter this time around as a clear, unfair advantage to an island-based region. And with it's base typing of grass/flying, it should be able to hold it's own against most Pokémon in the game, until ice-types start popping up that is. It gets moves to handle Litten and clearly sweeps the seal Pokémon... so I feel like the grass starter is meant more for the newcomers to Pokémon (somehow) or less experienced players. I dunno... I just hope the evolutions don't disappoint me, like Tepig's evolutions did XD. I dunno about that. Honestly, after analyzing the gyms in Kalos, Fennekin is the one who is able to manage the easiest. Meanwhile, Chespin has the hardest time. First, you have Viola and her Bug gym, then later we have Korrina with Hawlucha, along with Fairy, Psychic, and Ice gyms back-to-back. Usually, there's a starter that has a clear advantage over the others, both gym-wise and competitively. Last gen, Fennekin took the gyms while Froakie took competitive. However, the Grass starter often has a harder time in both cases, mainly since they have so many weaknesses. Honestly, I would love it if Rowlet broke the trend. Litten is probably my second choice if only because it might become a tiger (unless they decide to humanize the final evos again). Even if it is the "Newcomer starter," I like its design and honestly, that's usually how I pick my favorite Mons, because I think they look cool or cute. Everyone has their own opinion, like while you despised Tepig's evolutions, I loved them. Gen 1 Gyms: Rock, Water, Electric, Grass (Clear grass-type advantage) Gen 2 Gyms: Flying, Bug, Normal, Ghost (Fire-type advantage) Gen 3 Gyms: Rock/Ground, Fighting, Electric, Fire (Questionable water-type advantage) Gen 4 Gyms: Rock, Grass, Fighting, Water (Questionable Grass-type advantage) Gen 5 Gyms: Grass/Water/Fire, Normal, Bug, Electric (Questionable fire-type advantage) My point was that Rowlett could be easier to work around than the other two starters. It's a hypothesis, it hasn't become truth yet. And the grass/flying typing is one that I don't believe we've seen. So... who knows how it's weaknesses will turn out? (Skarm, statistics if you please) My way of picking mons is more by appearance than ability, though ability does factor in. Like frankly, I hated all gen 5 starters until I saw Oshawott's final evolution. Then I loved him.

By the way, the Professor of this game seems to be called Kukui. Kukui is another name for a Candlenut plant, which is interesting. He's the guy you meet over the computer, which leads me to believe our character is moving to the Alola region. Also, a man named Hala is the one who gives us our starter. Well, Kukui also says "welcome to paradise, cousin. This is the Alola region!" so yes, the playable character is moving to the region, and he is also related to the professor. Hala looks like a badass.

I had a feeling Litten would be popular, especially on here. A lot of the girls like Fire-types, as well as cats, so it was a no-brainer. And honestly, Litten's probably my second favorite. Popplio's okay and I like its design, but I'm just not feeling it, especially after the awesomeness that is Greninja. But usually, ever since 4th Gen (though I never got to play those games), I usually have an idea of who will be my main early on. Turtwig, Tepig, and Froakie all appealed to me immediately. I guess the Grass-Fire-Water is beginning again for me with Rowlet. I own 3 cats m8, anything that would have looked more like a skarmory or a cat would have been an insta grab. xD And for the seal. i hope he gets like water psychic and is the bulkier one of the bunch. he just looks like the type to do tricks with psyching magic and water. The owl can stay so, keep its weakness, in memory of dedwig. that is why i thought you would pick litten

Well, if it does become a tiger, don't you want it to be strong? Honestly, while Dark-type would probably suit it better, giving it a Fighting-type might not necessarily bring it to its hind legs while wearing boxing gloves. Actually, it would be cool to see a quadruped Fighting-type. Think of it like an Arcanine, but with STAB. I'd have to see its next stage evo, but I'd love to use a Fire tiger that pounces upon its enemies, whether its Dark, Fighting, or something else.

Speaking now mostly from a none statistical advantage which is something i barely do, but from time to time i enjoy a Pokémon i enjoy in looks and enjoy using, like skarmory(except skarmory is also good in competitive ) i just don't want this to be of the kitty I like my cats to stay elegant and wise. it can be a tiger sure, but no hulkingmass.

Hell yeah, look at all this new info! I'm really digging Rowlet, but the other two are pretty cool as well. And it looks like those theories about the new region being based on Hawaii were true! As for the Legendaries, the Sun mascot looks pretty epic. As for Moon's...I'm not feeling it as much. I'm going to get a female Rowlett and name her Hedwig. XD Can I take that quote and put it in my signature? It's just classic. XD

So, since they didn't reveal the legendaries' typings yet, what do you guys think they will be? We didn't get much in the trailers, but we can always speculate.

A second Type (if they have any) is beyond me. Sun Legendary: Fire. Moon Legendary: Psychic. Also, I do have fanart that should give a better idea of what the player characters and the rival look like.
I would like to note that the male player looks a bit like a Team Aqua grunt. XP
