Marth was unable to reunite with Princess Minerva, and so, in order to help Ogma and the Grustian royal children, he decided to visit Wendell, who was once the childrens' guardian. However, the "Holm Beach" where Wendell resides is dominion of the infamous Macedonian Vikings. Countless pirates await in Marth's path. Will Marth be able to safely rescue the children…?
WRYSSS!!! I regret everything.
Father Wrys cut my hair for me. Is something wrong, sire?
He, uh, certainly did. Well, if you like it, then wonderful. ...... W-well then, let's begin the war council.
Yes, sire.
Conversations:
Sirius
Sir Jagen, I have returned with the scouts. These are the details.
Hmm. We have to rescue Sir Ogma group as soon as possible… What’s this? Who’s this Paladin right beside Sir Ogma?
The details are unclear. The scouts say he’s a masked man of unknown identity.
Hmm… But if he’s a Paladin, I doubt he’s conspiring with those bandits. Depending on how we talk to him, he might even become our ally.
Barracks:
Sleet is another weak tome. Spd Potion raises the user’s speed by 2 for the whole chapter.
We also got a Draug’s Lance which we’ll give to Rody instead. Luke picks up a Glass Sword, an E rank sword with the might of a Silver Sword but having only 3 uses.
Our goal is to save Ogma and the Grustian Royal Children. Ogma can take multiple hits on normal mode but on hard mode and above, you’ll need to send someone there immediately. There is only one way of doing so in time, which we’ll get to.
This guys is the boss. Guile. Heh heh.
Also, that must be the Paladin that Jagen told us about. Let’s check him out.
Waaaait a minute, this guy looks familiar. Where have I seen him before?
…
CAMUS HAS A TWIN?
Okay, okay, if it wasn’t obvious enough, that’s Camus. How the hell did he end up there? Wasn’t he dead? We’ll have to find out. Of course, NO ONE recognizes him but everyone watching obviously will so I’m not going to even bother trying to keep his identity a scret.
And we begin!
This place is notorious for the Macedonian Vikings. If we could, we'd stay the hell away, but the village where Lord Wendell resides is just past this area.
Mister Ogma... I'm scared... Can we go back...?
Yubello! Get a hold of yourself! You're a man, are you not? Show some spine! You can use a Fire tome, can't you? So... fight with it!
But Master Wendell said that we mustn't fight... Besides, I don't like fighting.
Ugh, stop complaining! It's just you and me now. You have to stay strong, because I...sniff... I don't know what we're supposed to do...
Oh... I'm sorry, Yumina... I'll do my best, so... please don't cry!
Damn... This can't be good... We've been spotted. Kids, we've got no choice; we're going to have to cut through. Do not leave my side!
I like Yumina and Yubello. They’re quite adorable.
Ogma returns with the same stats he had in the Prologue meaning that you can grind him a bit in the prologue to make the early part of the chapter easier in harder difficulties. He’s obviously really good, far better than he was in Shadow Dragon.
Yumina is also really good. She’s the third healer you get and she’s better than Wrys and almost as good as Malicia. What’s notable is that she comes with a Rescue staff, a staff that allows you to instantly recall any unit from anywhere on the map to your side. It’s the exact opposite of Warp and we’ll need to use it in order to keep Yumina and Yubello alive.
Yubello on the other hand, has 1 magic. As a mage. I'll let that speak for itself.
Anyway, let’s go talk to NotCamus.
And just who the hell are you? Are you in league with the pirates?
I am Sirius, a mere traveler.
Oh, I see. I'm a little bit worked up right now. Sorry about the mix-up.
Those children...
I'm taking care of them. Do you know them?
No, I don't... But I do know that, as things stand, you won't escape with them. As I understand it, the Altean army should arrive here, provided you reach the southern village. Please, allow me to distract the bandits, while you make your escape to safety.
I see. So Prince Marth is here, eh? Got it, thanks. I've got to ask though. Why help a group of complete strangers like us?
I want to save the children. That is... all.
I see... Sirius... You said your name was Sirius, right? Let's meet again after we both get out of here! There's someone I need to take care of... The guy in charge of Grust's occupation, Commander Lang. I want to avenge a man named Lorenz... You—join me...! If I've got you on my side, then I'll be that much stronger.
Yes... That would be interesting. But first, you have to survive. Hurry and go!
All right, this will require a bit of Fire Emblem Lore lesson. How did Camus survive? Why is he hiding his identity? Those questions will have to wait till the end of the chapter.
Showing this image again to show off his base stats. They’re pretty damn good and his growths are also really good. New Mystery likes giving us our powerhouses early in the game.
Camus,I mean, Sirius, makes short work of the bandits.
Yumina visits a nearby house.
“This wouldn't 'ave 'appened if it weren't for all them political tomfoolery.”
And Yubello retreats back to not get murdered.
Julian takes out the thief right below us. He’s well within our range but also within range of the village. If you don’t see him, he’ll destroy the village on the first enemy phase.
“I hear you can bring faraway allies right next to you in a flash! It'd be so cool if it were true!”
We’ll be needing that too.
Catria takes the short path over the mountains.
Speed and Magic. We’re good.
This idiot attacks Kris when she can kill him in 1 hit.
Ogma managed to dogde some hits so he came out that situation with plenty of health to spare.
I heard Lord Wendell was living here.
Man: Yes, that, er... was correct... Yesterday, a group of Archanean soldiers suddenly came and took the pontifex away. Although, Prince... He did leave this magic tome behind. I believe it's wind magic. Please, take it with you.
Shaver is basically a less powerful version of Excalibur with the benefits of being usable by any mage instead of male mages. It’s also very good and is going to be very useful in later chapters.
PARTY HARD! IT’S MAGIC!
Yubello blocks the village so that the thief can’t destroy it. You may be realizing why this chapter is hard on higher difficulties. The thief will easily double and kill Yubello and Yumina and you pretty much need to rescue a character to their side immediately to save them.
Speaking of which, now that Marth’s visited the bottom left village, Yumina rescues him.
Though in this case, Rescue is not the correct term. That would imply that Marth was in danger when it’s the opposite.
Beware of this fucker. The Devil Sword is very powerful and can fuck you over if you’re not careful. However, this time, the thief is the unlucky one and the Devil Sword backfires and he ends up killing himself.
Star Shards are VERY important. DO NOT MISS EVEN A SINGLE ONE. You WILL regret it. If you miss one, restart the chapter without hesitation.
Not bad Marth, not bad at all. Marth then visits the village.
Ah, Prince Marth! Erm... Actually, I need money for medicine for me sick mother. But I couldn't find any work in Talys, so I moved here instead.
I see... That's terrible... I do hope your mother gets better. Well, goodbye then...
......... Wait!! Me mother, she's really sick... I need money, sir...
Hm? Oh right, here. It's only a little, but I hope it helps.
Uhm... Thank you, Prince Marth. You don't have to be so kind to a guy like me...
Castor... That's a bit much... It's only natural to help someone in need.
No, Prince Marth! You've done so much for me. I want to help you. Please, let me fight alongside you. You have me life at your disposal!!
And we get Castor.
He’d be good if we didn’t have Ryan, Warren AND Gordin. Seriously, the hell is up with this game giving you 3 archer/hunters in 4 chapters. Granted, Castor’s not awful but it’s still bizarre.
The bulk of my army hangs back near these forts.
Because reinforcements will be coming soon.
No magic. :\
WHAT! Resistance? What the hell have you been smoking, Ogma? I’m not complaining but damn!
And there they are.
What a spectacle!
Another critical?
Ogma waits next to the boss whose name is Guile.
This is the canon theme for this boss. I'm sorry! ...I wasn't thinking! Gahaha, just kidding! I'll be smashing your pretty head in!!!
I won't... forget this!
Go home and be a family man! Or not, because you’re dead.
Why do I even bother?
Done.
Caeda! She looks distraught. I wonder why?
Marth!!
Caeda? Did something happen? Why are you here?
Marth... Altea... Altea was attacked by the imperial army. The Archanean League... Gra and Aurelis ambushed us. Our forces were annihilated and we lost the castle...
Oh what the fuck?
Wh-what did you say?! This can't be happening! Altea is...
Damn! Our homeland has fallen to the enemy...
This is terrible beyond words... That which I feared the most has come to pass. Emperor Hardin likely heard Lang's story, and had us branded traitors.
I refuse to believe it. Hardin would never attack Altea! You're telling me that he believed Lang and truly thought that I wished to instigate a rebellion? Never!
No, I agree with you, sire. This attack was too soon. It happened far too quickly. For an attack of this scale, a great number of preparations had to have been in place. It is likely... that the Grust campaign was a setup. As was the situation in Macedon. It's quite simple, really. They had you leave Altea, with your elite knights in tow, and then proceeded to attack our weakened defenses. Hardin had this planned right from the start.
That's preposterous! Are you implying that Hardin-- with no provocation whatsoever-- decided to attack his fellow nation? Are you seriously suggesting this was all an elaborate trap? No! I won't accept it... Hardin... why?
Sire... Princess Caeda, what of the others? Is Princess Elice safe?
Elice, she... She gave herself up in order to let me escape with this message. Marth... I'm so sorry. She wanted me to warn you, no matter what... Sniff...
Caeda... Don't cry. I understand. Just knowing you're safe makes me happy. I should be the one apologizing. I shouldn't have left... You needn't have to go through this. We will take back Altea. Even if we have to fight Hardin, we WILL reclaim our homeland!
Marth got played HARD. EVERYTHING was planned. And it was for one purpose, aside from taking over Altea: An attack on Marth’s personal life. First he’s summoned on personally to deal with a rebellion only days before his wedding. Then his kingdom is attacked, his sister is taken captive and his fiancée is almost killed just when he starts to put the pieces together. Of course, there’s a an obvious reason for all of this but it’s not the only reason. The obvious reason is to lure away the Prince so that his kingdom can be struck when it’s not expecting it. The more personal reason will become clear much later.
Oh, by the way, Chris. About that hairstyle of yours... Have you deciced to keep it that way?
...Do you think it looks funny? Well, it'll grow back eventually, if I leave it alone... Do you think I should return it to normal?
Well, it's your decision to make. You should do as you please. So what will it be? Are you going to go back to the hairstyle you had before?
Yeah. I'll have to apologize to Father Wrys later, but I think I'll change it back to normal.
Yes. I do believe that would be a good idea.
Sour about that bad timing. Not exactly the best time to be discussing hair styles is it. The Avatar in this game can be pretty bad at this. Butting in at inappropriate times and taking focus away from other key characters. Take Jagen’s stand against Lang. In the original FE3, it was all about Jagen showing htat he’s still got it. But in this game, the focus shifts to the Avatar. It’s a real shame but it’s nowhere near as bad as FE13 and its Avatar.
Character Spotlight:
YuminaYumina is another great cleric. Using both her and Malicia is recommended because they synergize well. You alternate between classes by reclassing one of them to a mage while keeping the other as a cleric and then doing the opposite the next chapter to build up both Magic and Resistance since magic growths are higher for the mage class than the cleric class while it’s the other way around for resistance.
Yubello
I don’t even know what to say about Yubello. He starts with 1 magic and skill. Freaking one. And he’s a mage. Just wait until you try to reclass him into a Curate. Because Curates have less base magic than mages, Yubello will LOSE magic and have ZERO magic as a curate. ZERO! Do NOT use him as a mage. He’s absolutely terrible at it. Yubello’s true calling lies somewhere unexpected. Give him an axe and watch this kid go. No seriously, he makes for an amazing pirate/fighter.
SiriusAre we going to pretend that none us of know that this is Camus? Hell, I might even call him that every now and then if I slip up. It’s a classic case of paper-thin disguise. Anyway, Camus/Sirius is absolutely amazing, as is befitting the title, ‘Greatest warrior alive’ that he used to bear. He starts out with amazing base stats and has growths rivaling our own three cavaliers that we got in the beginning. It’s rare to find a promoted character who joins early to even have growths but Sirius definitely has them. Oh yes he does. You can’t go wrong with Sirius. The only problem he’ll have is that he doesn’t have enough levels to take advantage of his growths and he’ll lag behind in HP.
CastorCastor is a pretty good choice though unfortunately, he’s got competition from Ryan, Gordin and Warren. Still, he’s a good hunter and if we hadn’t yet merged the Male class sets, he’s definitely got an advantage over the Ryan and Gordin. And he’s kind enough to bring a Killer Bow along with him.
Not let’s talk about Camus.
As we all know, Camus was the General of the Sable Order of Grust and said to be the most able warrior alive. In the War of Shadows, Grust sided with Dohlr as the children of the Grustian king were held hostage by Gharnef. Camus was not in favour of siding with Dolhr but he knew there was no other choice. When Princess Nyna of Archanea was capture, Camus took her into his protection. They fell in love with each other though neither truly expressed their feelings When Dolhr called for her execution, he defied those orders and made sure that Nyna fled to Aurelis and had the protection of Duke Hardin. He incurred the wrath of Medeus but was allowed to live because his skills were recognized. When Marth and his army, headed by Nyna herself, Camus, wielding the legendary lance Gradivus, stood in their way, his loyalty to his king more important to him than his life and love. He fought Marth’s army, the Greatest Warrior versus the Star and Savour. After a long battle, Camus perished in battle. Or did he?
In reality, he survived, lost most of his memories, and ended up in the continent of Valentia. Valentia is a small continent towards the west of Archanea. Originally ruled by the sibling gods Mila and Duma, a dispute eventually led to them dividing the continent between them. The lands of the north were to be ruled by Duma and the lands to the south would be ruled by Mila. Eventually two kingdoms rose from this division, Rigel in the north and Zofia in the south. However, the heavy involvement of the gods in the nations they came to rule led to a contrast between them; the people of Rigel became strong, yet forgot kindness in their might, and the people of Zofia grew corrupt and knew nothing of toil. Camus was washed ashore in Rigel and was found by Teeta, a Rigelian. In a years time, "Zeke", the name given to him by King Rudolf, forged a common trust with the King and rose to become a high ranking general in the Rigel army. He even falls in love with Teeta all the while being completely unaware of his former identity.
By the time of FE2's story, General Dozer of Zofia stages a coup and kills the Zofian royal family except for their one daughter was sent away to safety a long time ago. Alm, a village youth living wiht his foster grandfather Mycen, a former General of Zofia, joins the rebellion against Dozer and eventually becomes commander of the rebellion. They topple Dozer and Alm meets up with Celica, his childhood friend and a priestess of the Mila faith. Both set off on separate quests. Celica goes to try and find out what happened to Mila. You see, some years before the story, Mila disappeared from the land. The crops that were usually blessed by Mila began to fail without her absence and that led to famine. Dozer took this opportunity to sieze power. Alm then set off to defeat Rigel who now threatened to take over Zofia.
'Zeke' opposed the war with Zofia, which led to Teeta being captured in order to force him to fight. When he learned that Teeta is safe and after he noticed a mark on Alm's right arm, one that belonged to the person who would save Rigel, according to Rudolf, he joins Alm's army. Alm is a seemingly ordinary boy from Zofia who takes up arms to defend his homeland. The mark on his arm is actually proof his royal lineage. Alm is in fact, the prince of Rigel, the son of King Rudolf, the very man Alm is fighting against. Conversely, Celica is the lost princess of Zofia.
Eventually, Rudolf is defeated. His grand plan is revealed. The dark god Duma approached Rudolf and gave him a blade withing which Rudolf sealed Mila. Rudolf's plan was to bring war upon the whole continent. Shortly after Alm was born, he entrusted him to Mycen to keep him safe. Mycen also had in his care, the princess of Zofia who would eventually joing the Mila faith. Rudolf intended to rif the world of the corrupt and evil and give Valentia to a new generation. Due to the gods becoming involved in human matters, the people's perspectives changed. The people of Zofia grew corrupt because they never knew of hardship and suffering since Mila's blessing would ensure that even the poorest of the poor would live in wealth. Due to Duma's influence, the people of Rigel grew strong but their resentment towards Zofia made them harsh and cruel. The Dark God Duma aided Rudolf in his war. The lost royalty of both Rigel and Zofia would unknowingly band together and rid the world of evil. Duma was eventually defeated by Alm and Celica. Duma, along with his sibling Mila, then gave their blessing to Alm and Celica and asked them to ensure that a peaceful coexistence.
Alm and Celica married each other and became King and Queen of the whole continent now unified into one kingdom. After the war, Zeke lived a happy life with Teeta and recovered his memories, although he did not tell her this. During peacetime, Zeke left without telling anyone to some unknown land to the east. That same year, a king-less knight going by the name of Zeke appeared on Archanea, doing good across the land.
Over the course of history, Valentia would get a new name. One that honours their great king. And though it would eventually end up getting split into many kingdoms again, one small remnant still beared the name of the continent. That small kingdom?
Valm.
