From today forth, you will train together as a team in your bid to become fully-fledged knights. The first half of your training will focus on developing your practical skills. Without further ado, I will introduce the senior knight who is to be your instructor.
Hey, it’s Cain! He looks older and more dignified. I really like the new portrait. The old one was a bit awkward.
o hone your practical skills, we will have a contest in the form of combat. If you let your guard down, it won't be just an injury you'll be walking home with!
Even amongst the Altean knights, Cain is one of our strongest men. You must all become strong enough to earn his approval.
Your enemies will consist of us Altean knights, as well as brave warriors whom I am proud to call friends. The opponents are determined by the ability of each platoon. 7th Platoon, your opponent is...
My squires, my friends; please go easy on me.
Caeda! What’s the Prince’s fiancée doing t raining newbie knights?
Oh, it's Princess Caeda! Prince Marth's fiancee! She's so pretty... I feel nervous at the thought of fighting her...
And we’re left to deal with 2 enemy units. A fighter and a mercenary are our initial opponents. Caeda will spawn once we defeat them. We start with letting Ryan get a whack.
Rody finished up the enemy.
We’re not fast enough to double this fighter. In most classes, we would be fast enough but like I said, Mage is the worst class for the Avatar.
Luke can deal the finishing blow.
I see you know how to fight well. In that case, I will fight you next.
Caeda is really fast. Now one on our side can double her and most get doubled themselves.
Fear won't help you; approach with confidence and the intent to fight.
We back up a bit and let Rody act as bait. He ends up getting doubled but survives with no problems.
But we have an Archer so Caeda goes down easily.
Well, that was easy…
That was a thrilling fight. You are the first squires to have bested me in combat. Promise me that you'll become knights worthy of helping Marth.
Of course, Princess Caeda.
If you ever need help during the practical training, do call on me. And I'll fight, but as your companion.
Hm? We'd gladly appreciate your help, but I'm not sure if we would be allowed to.
What should we do? I know, how about we ask Sir Jagen?
I have no qualms about your proposal. You may borrow the help of friends if they offer as much.
What a relief. I'm certain Princess Caeda will make a reliable ally.
But, is it really alright to rely on others? I don't see how this fits with our training...
We answer ‘no’.
No, this I know. The League led by Prince Marth didn't just consist of Altea: It went beyond the frontiers of nationality, and included friend and foe alike...
Yes. Our victory was not just the accomplishment of us Altean knights. Overcoming status and position; being able to fight together as equals... That is how Prince Marth fights. No matter when an ally came to our side, they could instantly join the battle with us. That is also a necessary skill for an Altean knight.
I see... That will be important to our training. I understand now.
If we can combine our strengths when we fight, I'm sure we can achieve anything. Right, Chris?
Yes, you're right.
Character Spotlight.
Luke
Luke starts out with decent base stats and some amazing growths. 65 % Strength and 50 % speed is a winning combination in my book. Usually, the early game enemies are axe wielders and his D rank in swords gives him an edge against them. He’s definitely one of the best units in the game. In fact, all units of the “7th Platoon” are really, really good.
Rody
Rody starts out with worse stats than Luke but compensates by having better growths. His Speed growth is a whopping 65 % and a full 15 % ahead of Luke’s growth. He also has a D in Lances which gives him ranged options although that doesn’t mean anything in the prologue since we don’t get ranged weapons right now. Doesn’t matter which one you use since both are pretty amazing and you won’t ever go wrong if you use both.
