Before we get started, let me answer a few important questions and stuff.
What is Fire Emblem?
Fire Emblem is a long running series of Strategy RPG games with a increased focus on story telling and character development. The series is developed by Intelligent Systems referred to henceforth as ‘IS’ and published by Nintendo. Gameplay involves moving units of various character classes in a grid based map completing various objectives like seizing a particular area (usually a throne or castle gate), or routing every enemy unit on the map, surviving for a set number of turns, etc. The series’ most infamous feature is that once a character is defeated in battle, that character is gone for good and your only options being continuing on without that character or restarting the entire chapter all over again.
The first Fire Emblem game, Dark Dragon and Sword of Light was released in April 1990 in Japan. It was released for the Famicom (the Japanese NES) and was one of the first Strategy RPG games to be developed. Key figures involved in its production included Shouzou Kaga, the director and creator of the series, Yuka Tsujiyoko, who composed most of the series's music, and Gunpei Yokoi, as its producer. Marth, the prince of a fallen country, was the hero of the game, and he also starred in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

How many Fire Emblem games have been released so far?
13 have been released. However, 7 of them (the first 6 and 12th one) were never localized.
A list of all Fire Emblem games released:
Fire Emblem: Ankokuryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi
Fire Emblem: Gaiden
Fire Emblem: Monshou no Nazo
Fire Emblem: Seisen no Keifu
Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
Fire Emblem: Fuuin no Tsurugi
Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken (first to be localized and named just ‘Fire Emblem’)
Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon
Fire Emblem: Shin Monshou no Nazo: Hikari to Kage no Eiyuu
Fire Emblem: Awakening
What is Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon?
Shadow Dragon is the 11th game in the series, released for the Ninendo DS and is actually a remake of the first game, making it the second remake of the first game as the 3rd game was divided into 2 parts of which, part 1 was a remake of game number one. One thing to note is that IS, for some reason, felt that they should stay as true to the original as possible. While this is commendable in some respects, what we get is a mere graphical update with a handful of modern Fire Emblem gameplay mechanics thrown in.
Gone are the Support Conversations, that flesh out characters so much and provide character development. Gone are the various victory scenarios like Rout, Survive, etc. Instead, all maps are Seize maps. The story is very basic and dated compared to other FE games and most characters are lucky to even get a single line of dialogue before becoming completely irrelevant. The game is very much lackluster compared to any other recent Fire Emblem game and it was criticized for the removal of those features
But that’s not to say that it’s a bad game. It still has its charms and the strategy needed for victory is still there. Just don’t come into this game expecting a ‘Path of Radiance’ style epic.
This game did introduce one new feature: Reclassing. Within certain limits, a character can change their class to provide more flexibility and new strategies. Reclassing will be explained when we it is available to us in that game proper.
Also worth noting is that this game has an excellent localisation.
Why did you decide to LP this game?
Considering it’s a remake of the first game, I thought it was fitting.
What sort of LP will this be?
This will be a complete LP of the game on Normal mode (because of reasons we’ll soon see) with every character recruited except side story characters (because fuck the requirements for those side stories) and without any character deaths.
What is the setup?
“This is game text. Anything not said by a character (usually, the narration) will be in this form in double quotes and italics.”
This is a character talking represented by a portrait before the text.
This is me. My comments will be in plain text.
Keep this in mind to prevent confusion.
So without any further delay, lets get on with the show!
Episode 1: Opening
Straight forward enough
This is the island kingdom of Talys, which we’ll see in a while.
There’s our hero, Marth meeting his
Uh-oh, looks like we’ve got trouble.
Well now, someone here is a real badass.
We’ve got magic too!
This person seems important. Nah. It’s probably nothing.
If it wasn’t obvious from the game’s title, there are dragons in this game.
Lack of screen separation turns the legendary Falchion into a fancy little dagger.
Obviously, these two dudes are real stand up guys fighting for peace and justice.
Our title screen. Pretty cool.
The main menu. We’ll be getting into the other options later. Maybe. For now, we’ll start a new game.
We can choose the difficulty. If we were to start with Hard Mode, we would miss out on the prologue which provides backstory as well as 1 character that we can only get in Normal mode. Technically, there are 2 characters exclusive to Normal Mode but the second character has some bullshit requirements to get. We’ll be starting with Normal Mode.
Well, that's it for now. Updates may not be regular as it really depends on how much free time I get.
