"The long war had been fought, Archanea's many lands freed, and now the League had cornered their archenemy within his castle. They broke into four groups and stormed the four gates of Doluna Keep- unaware that this was exactly what Medeus was expecting. Bravely, these warriors fate had chosen steeled themselves for one last struggle."
At long last, we’ve reached the end. It’s been a blast.
Let’s just promote Elice because why not?
Here's our final team with a small comment about each member.
Marth, the Prince of Light has been one of our better units. A real shame that he didn’t max out his speed stat. Still, he’s been very good and is our primary Manakete killer with his Falchion. He even had occasionally utility with his ability to open any treasure chest.
Cain has disappointed me very much this playthrough. I’ve poured so many stat boosters into him and even then, he’s only turned out decent. I expected much more from you.
Abel is one of our best units. He’s had a great run even with though he had slowed down for a while. Much, much better than Cain.
Frey is also one of our best units. I had a few troubles with his speed but with a couple of statboosters there, he eventually caught up.
Hardin is our designated Gradivus user and he has proven himself worthy of it from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for a better Hardin.
Even though she joined much later than everyone else, Catria is by far our best unit in this playthrough. She’s just amazing and that’s pretty much it.
Navarre has been pretty good. I hoped his strength would improve but it never did but that’s fine since he has ways of getting around that flaw.
Ogma is pretty damn good. He’ll be our Mercurius user. He usually caps speed for me but then again, I did promote him a bit earlier than usual.
Merric helped us out constantly, whether it be with his Excalibur against Fliers or wielding Starlight against Gharnef.
Julian has been great utility. And he can fight if he needs to, too. But he’ll be avoiding fights for the most part.
Firstly, FUCK YOU LENA!
Now then, Lena is still pretty amazing despite failing so miserably at getting good level ups. Healing, Warping and Repairing items is awesome and she did her job.
Elice is just here because of her amazing staff utitlity and Aum should anything go terribly wrong. Fortify won’t heal anything significant but it’s something, isn’t it?
Jeorge has not been very good but as a bow user he has his uses. He’s also wielding Parthis which really helps his otherwise lacking attack power.
Wolf has godly defence and will block up choke points like a boss. He also has a forged Killer Bow which makes him even deadlier.
Sedgar has also been amazing and while he doesn’t have any fancy forged weapons, the ones he does have are more than enough.
Now then, time to take a look at the map.
This map is by far my favourite map in the entire series. Firstly, we get awesome new music as the chapter theme called ‘Showdown in Dolhr Keep’. It’s ominous, it’s dark and it sets the mood perfectly.
Our teams are split into 4 groups so really should plan the first few turns well since a bad group can make or break you odds of making it through this chapter without casualties. There are several doors that separate the rooms. Right now, they’re open but if you take too long to get to the central area, the doors will start closing one by one and your team will be stuck until you can get a thief or a Door Key/Master Key to free them. Thankfully, the shop at the bottom right corner sells Door Keys should you run out or if your thief character is unavailable.
Starting down in the bottom centre part is Marth with the his loyal Knights of Altea; Cain, Abel and Frey. There's a mystery sage with Marth. Who is that? We'll see in just a minute. In the bottom left corner is Hardin with his own loyal men, Wolf and Sedgar.
In the top right corner are Ogma, Navarre, Merric and Elice. This is our most versatile group. In the top left corner are Catria, Julian, Jeorge and Lena. I’ve purposely separated the staff users so that both of them has enough capable fighters to defend them.
In the centre, is Medeus himself. We’ll look at him in a bit because of a special reason.
Anyway, this map is great. It requires strategic placement and is well thought out from start to finish.
Let’s begin!
We made it. Now we just have to find Medeus...
Sire! Lord Gotoh is here to see you.
Marth, you have fought splendidly.
Lord Gotoh?! What are you doing here?
I washed my hands of humankind and their foolish ways long ago. But you and your companions have convinced me that was a rash decision. Perhaps there is hope for you yet. Allow me to offer what help I can.
You mean you'll fight with us?
Yes. I may lack the power to stop Medeus, but his minions are another story. Let this old man strike them down and clear a path for you. ...The gods have chosen you, Marth, prince of light. Go now, and win back a future for us all. Your family would be proud.
....!
Medeus transforms. He has recovered his strength and is ready for us.
Epic scene that includes flashbacks to the prologue. You won’t get the flashbacks if you’re not playing on Normal mode. Aside from that, this is a great scene. It reveals much about Gotoh through the few lines he says. You really should be able to guess what’s his deal by now. Go on. Guess. Post a comment about Gotoh and what you think his lines potentially reveal.
Medeus transforms into his Earth Dragon form and he’s ready to fight us. Really initimidating.
And yes, Gotoh did just join us. Since this is the last chapter, I’ll do the character spotlight right here instead of saving it for last.
And here’s our big bad, Medeus himself. He’s as dangerous as he looks. His defence and resistance is amazing and it takes the best of the best to penetrate it. Or Falchion and Tiki/Nagi.
Anyway, let’s get on with the final chapter…
First, Marth goes and opens the door so that the other units can take the shorter path.
Gotoh and Frey double team this Paladin that was right outside while Hardin takes out the Ballista with the Gradivus.
Catria creates a wall with Jeorge behind her for support. Our guys up in the top right also do the a similar thing.
We get attacked on the enemy phase.
Out counterattack yields some good levels. Catria has 25 strength. That’s amazing.
Sedgar gets a typical level up.
Marth is going straight to Medeus. We have no reason to waste time here.
Merric and Ogma takes out couple of enemies as I get a sweet screenshot of Ogma. Elice then heals Merric because he had to take on a General at melee.
Abel takes out a Mage Dragon with a critical hit as Marth gets attacked by a Swarm wielding Bishop.
The Falchion sadly isn’t effective against the weaker dragons that Dracoknights ride.
Ogma kills the Swarm Bishop and our healers use as much Fortify as is necessary.
Jeorge isn’t fast enough to kill. So Catria finishes off the enemy. She gets a meh level.
It’s best to take care of these Curates so that they don’t keep healing our enemies. Hardin gets an amazing level for this clever thinking.
HEAL EVERYONE!
Frey is really making up for his initial low speed.
Cain’s level up is decent.
A critical helps Hardin kill the sniper.
Catria bates out the dragon in the corner.
Bah!
We try to kill a few units from the other side of the wall. Most notably, the last enemy healer is dead.
Another one of our teams is ready to move out.
Merric gets hit by the enemy Sniper.
Some pretty dangerous reinforcements start arriving. We should get to Medeus fast since these guys can overwhelm you.
Excalibur destroys flying units as always.
Julian and Jeorge block out these tiles as reinforcements will start arriving from here. One of them is a Ballista and it can create many problems once the door closes and you can’t get to it easily.
Gotoh fortifies the army.
A meaningless level up.
The door here closed and locks us in though Julian can always bust us out.
We start taking out Medeus’s guards.
Elice fortifies everyone and gets a technically good but still worthless level up.
More combat.
Marth is almost there.
I had to put Frey in range of Medeus to kill this Hero. He can definitely survive one hit though.
Oh, how you will regret it as you die slowly...painfully...writhing in the fires of the inferno!
Now if we had Nagi battle Medeus, he says something else.
Hmm? So... I am not the only dragon revived. I had heard you perished the last time. No matter; you've recovered even less of your power than me. This time, you have no chance!
This pretty much confirms that Nagi is the reincarnation of Naga. Medeus is certainly right. Nagi hasn’t recovered enough of her strength and it will probably be a while before she does.
Marth can do 34 damage right away but isn’t fast enough to double Medeus. On Normal mode, if Marth maxes out his speed stat at 25, he can double Medeus. On any other mode, Medeus is far too fast. On the highest difficulty, Medeus will have 30 speed and will always double Marth.
On the enemy phase…
Damn it Marth, you missed! No!
Let’s try this again, shall we? Marth gets healed fully by all of our Fortify uses and we have him wait next to Medeus again.
LOL CRITICAL!
Know this, Altean prince... That light which surrounds you is only a temporary respite. So long as the darkness in your hearts continues to sustain me...I cannot be...destroyed..... Rrraaahhh!!!!!
It’s over. Medeus has been slain.
But his final words are a bit troubling. They aren’t just the mad rumblings of a dying dragon, that’s for sure.
But we did! The game is finished! All that’s left is another Interlude and the Epilogue.

Character Spotlight:
Gotoh
Gotoh is badass. He has amazing base stats and an A ranking in both Tomes and Staves. He arrives with a Thoron tome as well as the only obtainable Swarm tome in the game. With this, he can strike enemies at long distance allowing other characters to finish them off. He also has a Fortify staff and a Recover staff with him so any healing problems you might have had are gone. His growths are pretty meaningless since this is the final chapter and he only has 2 more levels to go anyway. His overall magic stat is a bit low but his other stats more than make for it. He’s one of the best units in the game. And you don't even have tp replace any of your previous units for him because he joins after you start the chapter and does not take up a deployment slot.
