This is really turning out a lot like the Hoenn series. Instead of having all three starters, Ash just gets Froakie while Serena gets Fennekin and Clemont gets Chespin. In that case, there's a pretty good chance that Ash will get a Greninja!

He usually catches the first pokemon he encounters. So it's kind of a hunch for me.
