Concerning these new characters and old characters, the first thing that comes to my mind are third party characters from the previous game. Sonic has a slight chance of stillbeing in it, with Sonic Lost World and such, but Snake probably won't, unless Mr. Kojima asks for him again. Another concern I have is the Fire Emblem game representative. It is quite possible to keep Marth in the game, but with Fire Emblem Awakening, his outlook for the game is quite grim. There is the possibility that he will be replaced with either Chrom or Lucina. Captain Falcon probably will make it, as we have seen fox and samus return, and they haven't had a game in years. Finally, for those who don't know already, Mewtwo might possibly return to the fray, so, Lucario is out of the question for me.

I believe Yoshi, Ness, Zelda, Falco, and Jigglypuff will make a comeback, seeing as they are pretty popular(not sure about Jigglypuff, but it's been around since the first, so I wouldn't count on it being left out). I'm unsure about Peach; she's been around since Melee, but she isn't really that good. Except for her frying pan. Goddamn, that is awesome.
Back on topic, I hope they keep Lucario instead of bringing back Mewtwo. I personally found Lucario to be much more fun and easier to use.

In my opinion, Mewtwo might return and be able to change in between his forms via Final Smash. Lucas is probably out, along with Ike, Wolf, Toon Link, Pokémon Trainer, and Lucario.

Olimar and Ike might cut out. R.O.B, Snake, Toon Link, and Wolf would be cut out. So I guessing Lucario, Lucas, Pokemon Trainer (different Pokemon teams or having a two trainers), Sonic, most of the brawl characters will be in. Same thing for Oringal, and Melee characters. If Mewtwo returns, just keep Lucario. I think that it.

I hope Ike makes a comeback. He's always been my go-to Brawler. Doubt it. Marth and Roy entered because Marth was getting remakes in the GBA and Roy was a new guy in the series, thus making them marketable through Melee. When that worked, Marth stayed because of his popularity in Melee. They did it with Ike because of his games that were out on the GCN and its sequel on the Wii. With the newest one, we'll have either Chrom or Marth, or both. |
