I love Stephen King's novels. I haven't read all of them and there's many of his books I haven't finished reading yet, but I think that he's a fantastic writer that injects a lot of great personality in his books. J.K Rowling is another writer I love. I love the Harry Potter series because I thought that the author was so creative and passionate. Stephen Fry is a writer I like too, I think he's witty and amusing. You can mention fanfic authors if you want.

Published authors: J.R.R. Tolkien, because the man was simply brilliant when it came to writing. The LoTR trilogy is one of my favorite series of books ever. Christopher Paolini is another well-known fantasy author who inspires me, mainly because he became a NY Times bestseller at the age of nineteen with Eragon. Tim O'Brien is another author I have a huge amount of respect for, he is so talented and The Things They Carried is another favorite book of mine.
Fanfic authors: One person in particular who comes to mind is an author who's penname is Resmiranda. She is such an amazing writer, I would pay to read her fanfiction. Her stories really inspired me a lot back when I first started taking writing more seriously. She's awesome.

Lemony Snicket and Dr. Seuss! Also, JK Rowling.
Okay for fanfic, I'd have to say my very first person whose writing inspired me was DigiFruit. He has such a way with words and one of the first fics I ever read. He was the first person that made me think, I want to get to his level.

I have to say C.S.Lewis was one of the top ones.
Fanfic: I am being completely honest here. TheShinyGengar and Pichu inspired and pushed me to write. I owe them where I am now and what I have written. they are both awesome.

I could never imitate the mentioned authors' styles or skill, but they were very inspiring nonetheless.
Warning: Long post
Novel: Hmm, he's not very popular but Clive Cussler's writing style always intrigued me, I could never imitate it but he's still fun to read.
Christopher Paolini too. I don't like his later books as much, but Eragon at the age of 19 is a VERY impressive achievement and I also liked his style, at least in that one. Always exciting and full of plot twists.
JK Rowling because of the Harry Potter series. So well written and very creative.
Fyodor Dostoevsky (Is that how you spell it?). I only read "Crime and Punishment", which is supposedly only his 2nd or 3rd best piece, and it was a REALLY really tough read, but I just loved his style. It was very unique and descriptive and every detail came together in the end.
Eric Nylund and Joseph Staten. Yes, I'm a nerd, I read some of the Halo novels. They were full of description and very well written, explaining canon events not displayed more "publically". Especially "The Fall of Reach" given the fact that Nylund finished that in 7 weeks supposedly.
Fanfiction: A LOT of them have been inspirations, not all of them have been for Advanceshipping, but still.
The Advanceshippers: Honestly, the list is WAY too long. Some of them are even "retired" authors as well. I think if I listed them all and the reasons, you'd probably have to scroll down a lot to finish my post
Non-Advanceshippers: Jayden and Verwulkt for his RoyxLilina stories and InHarmsWay for his MShepxTali stories were really big inspirations for me as well despite not being Advanceshipping writers.

Authors beside FF.net? None, i don't read novels. I read manga. XD From Fanfiction? This guy right here: Pendar, www.fanfiction.net/u/1207952/Pendar To me, he is a god. Look at that detail, the plot, characters. Not to mention his a advancershipper but you can't tell unless you read Dawn of Darkrai Honestly, i have not met anyone with this style. Oh god, i love him. Okay others would be LuciferIX, S.Muffin, Matkin22, C.GHoly, WingsofRain and Dryuu.

I don't read books that often, and when I do I really don't bother about the authors... but for Fanfic, I'd have to say my mentor, beastmode. He helped me soooo much! He even inspired me to write Advance (which most people know) Don't get me wrong, they're a lot of other authors that inspire me to do better, but I guess I'm too lazy to remember 'em all...

Novel: J.K. Rowling, Christopher Paolini, and Rick Riordan. RR especially because he's what inspires my style of comedic/adventurous/action/romantic writing style.
Fanfic: Too many to name.

That's hard, because I'm horrible with names, I loved the guys who wrote tge Left Behind series, The Inheritence Cycle, and The Hobbit.
As for fanfiction, In the beginning, I actually started to write because of a dislike for an author, he had concept I liked but in the end I disliked the story, so I wrote my own. Over time, I don't know if I could say I've found authors I really look up to. A lot of the fics a really enjoyed were retired writers who names I don't remember. I'd say I have a bit to learn from people like midnightmoon and Beastmode...

Well I grew up reading the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling but my all time favorite would have to be Laurence James who wrote the Death lands series, he passed away and although other people still continue his series...it just doesn't have the same FEEL to it if you know what I mean. Fanfic writers would be Lucifer and Muffin right at the top Lucifer's stories and overall quality of writing gave me the drive to refine my english in general (which was suffering from all the texting I've been doing on mmos and social networks) And Muffin coz without her I would have even attempted writing fanfics in the first place! *big hug*
