Wow, I shouldn't be surprised by the fact that people say that my work inspires them but for someone like me it always is a bit of a shock. Thanks to the ones who actually mentioned me.
Sadly for myself I can't say that I have to many authors that inspire me. On top of the fact that writing and I were never great friends to begin with, I've always been bad with remembering names so the real authors' don't usually stick very well and I haven't read a novel in several years. As for the only fanfic author that I could say it about is that I originally wanted to emulate Elite4James' battles. I've never been one to ask for help so I'm usually working with my own style and from what I've seen works and doesn't work first hand.

I LOVE James Patterson. The Maximum Ride series is what gave me the ambition to start writing, then of course, Fanfiction authors like tSG helped me start fanfiction

A fanfiction author named twicebornbacchus has really inspired me in more ways than one. Her writing is simply amazing! However, she does not write anything for Pokemon, most of her stuff is M, and a large portion of it is yaoi. View discretion is advised xD

Beastmode came up with an interesting topic, so I'm going to copy and paste it in this thread because I feel it's more relevant here:
Are there authors whose writing styles you would like to emulate?

I want my style to be unique to me, and only me. I want to do something that people will remember me for. I'd rather be remembered for being different, than forgotten because I was normal. I am me, and only I am me. That's the way it was meant to be.

That was beautiful Phil! *wipes tears *
I agree with you! Although I really want to get to a point in my writing where it's compared to thegreat authors. XD

Indeed, I want people to be able to tell that I wrote something even if my name isn't on the page. That's a little farfetched though.

XD I have no problem being compared to great authors, I just don't want to be like great authors. I want to be recognizable as me, Dr. Phil E. Sophical. Not Shakespeare. Not Twain. Not Verne. Not Lee. Not anyone. I want people to look at a page and know that I was the person that wrote it.

Harper Lee, John Green, whoever wrote Old Yeller(I can never remember his name) and Alison Weir. They've all written beautiful, thought provoking novels, and Weir is dedicated to researching all she can and keeping an open mind, which I believe are the key aspects for a historical fiction author.
And I agree with Phil. While I'd like to imitate certain aspects of certain authors, ultimately I'd like my writing to be unique.

whoever wrote Old Yeller(I can never remember his name) Fred Gipson. Anyway, the authors who inspire me the most are J.K. Rowling and Cormac McCarthy. Rowling has the perfect rags-from-riches story that's worthy of a Potter-like tale, while McCarthy writes some very gripping and insightful stuff.

Writers who inspired me? Here is my list -
Gerbilftw LuciferIX Matkin22 Blue is the new red (Shiny Gengar) Littlemissmidnight Advance4ever DarkSlash9 Itssupereffective LegionZ Shadow1001 Ashura Satoshi
So these are the people who I consider legends in my eyes and how much I can thank you all is not enough, the follows, favourites and reviews I'm getting today is because these people inspired me to write, and I want to be like them. And well, other than fanfiction you can count JK Rowling.

In no particular order... 1. Jules Verne 2. Harper Lee 3. Mark Twain 4. Dr. Seuss You know it's an old thread when it predates my Kerouac, Camus, Sartre, Dick, and Pynchon obsessions (not necessarily in that order). Dr. Seuss is still awesome though.
