Ohh yeah i forgot do they use legendary pokemon too
cause if they are im soo screwed xD
It was pretty tough from what I can recall but, I might be mixing this up with another tournament I went to back in the day, so if there's any inconsistencies with the rules, I'm sorry about that. lol.
And, I'm not too sure, but I don't think you're allowed to use items that boost types. Like Twisted Spoon, Dark Glasses, etc.
I believe the Journey Across America tournament let you use those. But I dunno for sure; it was practically seven years ago! lol.
The Battles took place in 3D with Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness for the Gamecube lol.
Anyways, I remember you were allowed to use one legendary Pokemon (except the legendary birds, beasts, and golems were usuable) of your choice, and that one legendary would be a part of your overall six used in battle. But anyways,
I think I brought in my Sharpedo, Raichu, Armaldo, Metagross, Blaziken, and Rayquaza for the tournament.
I remember the first match being alright, nothing too particularly hard. I entered the Junior Division so I was with other like minded kids at the time. Not to mention, I don't think EV training was widely known as it was now, so it was fair game lol.
Anyways, Sharpedo was my lead, and I remember the other guy using a Macargo. I easily beat it with Surf, and it faints due to its 4x weakness to Water.
After that the guy sends out his Zapdos. I was expecting an electric based move coming, so I switched into my Metagross and sure enough, it was Thunderbolt. I remember taking it out with a rock type move in two hits though, as my Metagross was able to take the Thunderbolts.
He then goes for Charizard and tries to flamethrower me. I switch into Blaziken and absorb it. Fortunately for me, I was faster than Charizard and proceeded to KO it with Thunderpunch.
Now here's where my memory gets ridiculously hazy. I remember switching out my Blaziken for Sharpedo, and Raichu but they both get KOed to this one Pokemon that I forgot. I remember him sending out a Pokemon that got my Blaziken into the Red HP zone however, causing my Salac Berry Kicked In, meaning I got even more faster. Unfortunately, Blaziken fainted to the guys' final Pokemon, which was a Lugia, and it took Blaziken out with a Super Effective Psychic type move. Fortunately for me, I had my Rayquaza left in reserve. After one Dragon Dance, Rayquaza's outrage KOed the Lugia giving me the victory.
And that's my story for ya. lol.
However, round two is a different story. I got beat with the next guy having 2 Pokemon in his reserves. I don't remember what happened though. I vaguely remember a Kyogre defeating my Rayquaza and Blaziken though. It was tough considering I lost and all lol.
But yeah. I might try out for the Pokemon World Tournament eventually. I just gotta get a BW/2 game first lol.
After the tournament though, I was there to meet with a bunch of people. Trading, and battling with strangers was really fun! ^^
All of the event Pokemon I got were really cool, and my trainer's certificate is pretty awesome in my opinion.
