I knew this was coming when another friend of mine posted about it on Facebook recently... At this rate I'll end up watching Evangelion before you can finish it. I’ve already seen the show all the way through. I just haven’t watched the alternative ending movie.

Episodes 25 and 26 take place during a moment that happens in the film, you know? It's canon to the original series. It just has a budget unlike the last 2 episodes. XD

Alternative, meaning “something that be chosen instead.” I’m just choosing not to watch the movie. EDIT: Besides, I’m trying to catch up on My Hero Academia right now. I don’t want any possible insanity caused by EoE to derail that. XD

Anyway, I'm currently powering through Little Busters! and it's several seasons. So far, not as good as the VN, but still good enough to entertain me.

Great! What better way to make anyone else think I’m watching porn by watching the dubbed voice of Darkness get off
Hopefully the voices match. Would be shame if it suffered the same fate as OPM dub

So, I’m not sure if we’ve talked about this year, but I’ve talked about it with friends. I have two questions for you all: When were you introduced to anime and what series did you first see? Describe your experience. What series do you think is the perfect introduction for newcomers? For the first one, I was technically introduced when watching Pokémon. I was flipping through the few channels my family had back when I was younger and happened upon the episode where they are trying to escape the sunken SS Anne. I had never seen anything like it, so I was very intrigued. After watching more episodes, I was hooked and history goes from there. However, I never saw many other anime series besides Digimon until I saw an ad while was researching on Bulbapedia for information while writing League of Ultimates. The ad was for Rosario x Vampire, which sounded intriguing, even though anime sounded weird to me up until that point. This is probably the series I regret watching, because while the manga is really good, the second season of the anime was so weird it turned me back off of anime. The only thing that brought me in later was chancing upon Case Closed and Ranma 1/2, as well as LuciferIX recommending Brotherhood to me. I truly fell in love with that series, to the point I ended up getting the series on Blu-Ray last year. Twice (I made a mistake and bought the British version, which means I can’t watch it on my player. Still need to find a way to get rid of it...). As for the second question, I definitely think Brotherhood is good for an early watch, but if I had to pick an introduction anime, I’d have to say either Case Closed, Trigun, or My Hero Academia. I have yet to finish any of these series, but from the beginning episodes, I can tell you these are really fun and interesting series to help ease new viewers into the style.

Question 1: First anime I watched in its entirety was Naruto/Naruto: Shippuden. Fairly enjoyed the anime despite the copious amounts of filler. Main characters were likable and the villains were great once Pain entered the scene. Question 2: One piece I’d have to agree with My Hero Academia. As for any other anime I’d recommend watching a video of a YouTuber I watch for anime reviews:

First experience, at the age of about 17 in a game shop a college friend opened in my hometown - the original Street Fighter movie.
Properly, much later, by my now ex, about... 9-10yrs ago... First watch was either Cowboy Bebop or Yu Yu Hakusho, then came Madoka and Elfen Lied and others but it was infuriating as because she'd seen them before she couldn't sit and just watch them with me - she'd get antsy and either switch shows or flit on and offline the whole time. *sigh*
Full Metal Panic was in there somewhere as well as Hellsing (I watched Ultimate much later on myself).

Digimon, Pokémon, Hamtaro, Zatch Bell, Duel Masters, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Naruto, Dragon Ball, and Inuyasha. Only watched those when I was a kid. Loved them all.
Once I entered high school, I started watching other anime like Kiss x Sis, Seikon no Qwaser, Highschool DxD, Highschool of the Dead, Dimension W, Tokyo Ghoul, Parasyte, Mobile Suit Gundam, Rosario+Vampire, Maken-Ki!, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Hunter X Hunter, Monster Musume, Sailor Moon, Akame Ga Kill, Kill La Kill, Sword Art Online, Ouran High School Host Club, and many more when I started watching Toonami and others online.
I guess a good anime for newcomers would be Dimension W. That show is pretty funny and has some good action scenes in it.

Ranma 1/2 was the first show along with spanish Dub Dragon Ball Z waaaay back when it would air on spanish tv (about 1999 or 2000-01). And..inuyasha id say. But the one that got me hooked on anime was Eureka Seven. Great show with a healthy 50 episodes.
To suggest to a newcomer...Ranma 1/2. Get slowly used to the wackiness that anime offers.

When were you introduced to anime and what series did you first see? Describe your experience.
Definitely Pokemon, though I didn't know it was an anime at the time. I was a kid when I first started watching it at the age of five or so, and I had no idea countries and other cultures existed. I just watched the English dub of Pokemon and treated it like an American cartoon, without any awareness of the original Japanese version. Meanwhile, my brother got into Yu-Gi-Oh!, so I was introduced to anime through that as well, but like with Pokemon, I didn't know anime existed and I treated Yu-Gi-Oh! like an American cartoon too.
I don't know when I actually became aware of anime, officially, but I suspect it was due to random research. Before that, though, when I was a kid, I became aware of a whole bunch of cartoons that I was told only adults watch, including anime. I stayed clear of those because my parents would kill me if I gave a look-see. Thus, everything in Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block was off-limits every time my family and I went traveling.
Anyway, the first anime I watched after learning about anime was during the summer after my junior year of high school. Since I was a big boy and already watching more adult-oriented cartoons like "The Simpsons" and "Family Guy", I stayed up for a while watching everything Adult Swim had to offer. Then Toonami came on, and I was first exposed to actual anime. I sort of zoned out during the first couple of anime that aired because I wasn't interested, but the one that caught my interest was Soul Eater. I was hypnotized by that opening.
After that opening, the floodgates opened and I kept watching like I was possessed. When the episode ended on a cliffhanger, I was really let down, so when I returned home, I marathoned Soul Eater using an anime website, and that was how I learned more about anime. I think the anime I watched next was Sword Art Online, either because its name came up on that website or I was seeking out other anime that was airing on Toonami. Angel Beats and The World Only God Knows came up next, and after that, it becomes a blur. But yeah, that's how I got hooked on anime.
What series do you think is the perfect introduction for newcomers?
I think Soul Eater is, actually, simply because that's how I got hooked in the first place. The opening alone is probably enough to gauge anyone's interest going forward. But I also agree with My Hero Academia.
