My favorite anime hands down is Fullmetal Alchemist (both original and Brotherhood)! If you've never seen it (or read the book), I seriously recommend it.

Oh, I love fma too! XD
Haha, I like both as well, although I admit I like brotherhood a bit more since it follows the manga.
Still, love them both!

Haha, same here! Plus at some points the original gets a little too weird. Yes, I'm looking at you killer robot who was completely ripped off from Terminator >_>
Have you seen both the movies? I recently saw the new one and it was really good! Though one somewhat minor detail ticked me off. I just feel as though Mustang could of had a higher roll in the movie. Oh well.
Who's your favorite character/ pairing? (:

@lucifer lol, even if you would reformat it I doubt your flash drive would last long in terms of space xD I believe the reason for that to be that most advanceshippers don't watch anime like Clannad.. or maybe I'm wrong? Many here seems to have seen it, I just haven't seen many that watch anime AND are into shippings and fics :3 Yeah, I mean, one series of around 10 episodes should be around a few GBs, so 76 is just insane. In this case, (with Coalgirls' releases) they just mess around with different codecs and max out the quality :P That is quite interesting, actually. I have 1080p files on my computer but I've rarely seen difference between 1920x1080 and 1280x720 files. Surely there is difference, but I don't think it is that huge or worth the increase of drive space. Despite this, I still get a few series that are 1080p xD You're a bit lucky there I guess: my friends and family would rather stare at the wall than watch anime, with the exception of my two perverted anime classmates. Also, they've walked in on my over 20 times during these 'nice and cozy' scenes, so it's pretty much useless for me now. Thus, having friends like yours trying to watch series to understand what and why, that, I think is pretty cool :P. A year or two break..? Breaks are fine, and probably recommended but I'd never expect that time xD Uhm.. you could try watching that clip again, but this time, only listen to it. :3 If a show has both comedy and extra blood without things getting strange and awkward, it almost has to be good :P The five year difference between the OVAs and the series might be a reason to why you liked it more ^^ What the, and your processor can keep up? :o *facepalm*, well, obviously you don't anymore, xD It's like that here, too, parents not being much interested with stuff like this. Well, except my dad taught me the basics.. now I'm better at network and software while he's better at hardware like computer parts. Anyways, with many others having it like me and like you used to have it, it's now natural for the parents to wonder why they're paying for the extra fast internet.. in which my reply would be: WE GET DA MOVIE FASTAH Dat list. I doubt Aura will ask for more recommendations in the near future :p @haruka .. *adds Evangelion to list* Wubbzy and wittychick FMA! Is it really that good?! :D @beast Who's Kakashi? And Piccolo? :D

Wubbzy you definitely need to see the movies! The first one actually follows the end of the original series, and so it answers some of the questions. The ending made me happy and pissed at the same time, if such a thing is possible xD
Ed's my fav, and Roy makes a REALLY close second. Haha, who doesn't love Armstrong?! He sparkles! xP
Those are my two favs as well! Oh and RoyxRiza is Royai.
Anthoneey, yep, FMA is really good! It's got great humor, plenty of action, and a very heart felt message. You should at the very least see Brotherhood, since it follows the manga almost exactly. Also, it has a great line up of English voice actors. Vic Mignogna, Travis Willingham, and Caitlyn Glass are all major characters. Obviously there are others, I just can't remember their names xD

It's really up to you. I guess I'd recommend the original first since the first half of the series is similar to the manga. Brotherhood condenses all of what the original does into 13 episodes. If you see the original first you'll appreciate the abridged version later, and you won't get bored as apposed to watching the other series first.
Why not both? (: (Or just watch which ever you can get your hands on the quickest)

@anthoneey
At least I only use my flash drive for transporting files. My externals take care of back-ups and storage. I used to burn them onto DVDs to save, my laptop's 80GB HD filled up real fast even when I was only watching 3 or 4 series at the time, but that became too cumbersome. So I bit the bullet and bought my first external.
The only true difference that I can tell between 1920 and 1280 is right after opening the file and before I expand it to full screen. 1920 fills my monitor almost perfectly while 1280 takes up about half. The rest is just too hard to really notice. Unless of course there's pixelation as the images move.
Well my parents still think that anime is simply "cartoons" and have brought that idea up several times. I keep saying that it's a wider range of material than what they're thinking of. I've contemplated showing them scenes from Elfen Lied or the like to prove it but would rather just let it go. But as for my friends I'm happy with the ones I have but if you want to classify them I was with more the "geeky" side in high school and earlier, although none of us really look that way, playing Magic the Gathering mainly and various card games to pass the time in resource period. And even if college the friends I made were at the very least tolerant of anime, though most just didn't see much interest in it. Though since it wasn't my only interest I still got along well enough with them.
Yeah said break was because one of my friends dragged me into the demon known as WoW. I didn't start that game cause I knew I was going to be addicted to it and sure enough I did. Guild broke up though and my account's time should be expiring soon.
Oh I don't think I need to go back to know how it sounded, lol. Like I said, the implications were quite deep.
Part of the reason that I'm liking Hellsing Ultimate better outside of those differences is that it's going deeper into the story. In the original they never showed who was ultimately behind the plot, just some of the more powerful servants of it. And even in writing I tell people who ask that details are always important for the readers to get the full story.
My processor is an Intel Q9550 Quad Core so it can handle the stress. It used to be impressive, but when I built the desktop the i7 was just coming into production and I didn't want to spend the money to upgrade three other pieces along with the processor itself. I'll replace it someday but as long as it runs smoothly I see no need. Because when I do it will be the processor, motherboard, RAM sticks, and possibly the heat sink that all need to be replaced and that's no drop in the bucket when it comes to cost.
Yeah I can still remember when I virtually forced my parents to upgrade from 56k. Got disconnected for the 5th time in 30min and decided that enough was enough, so I went downstairs and pretty much told them to upgrade to cable. It took a little bit more after comparing prices to finally get it to happen though. But when it comes to electronics in general they're not that great. My dad can figure out the basics, like connecting TV cables, it just takes him about 10min to figure out how it should go. So I just took over and they never complained.
Yeah if Aura wants to watch all of those he'll be at it for a while. I think about 5 of those are over 100 episodes and several more are over 50. But if he wants different ones I can recommend them.
In general, yes, Fullmetal Alchemist is good and I would also recommend it. As for myself this is one of the few series I'm used to both the English and Japanese voice actors and can say that the dubbing company did a good job at matching the voices up. Or at least for the original 2004 version, they're a lot of new characters in the newer one so I can't vouch for that as well. The 2004 series is 51 episodes long while Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (2009) is 64 long. As mentioned, Brotherhood does take the story further and in line with the manga, and is in general considered the superior of the two, ranking number 2 in overall anime on myanimelist (and to my continued delight Clannad ~After Story~ is number 4, hehe). Although because they sped up the initial development I would still recommend to watch the 2004 series to get that extra bit of story that they missed/glazed over.
And to answer for Beast, Hatake Kakashi is from Naruto and Piccolo is referencing the character from DBZ.

Lets see I like pokemon but my favorite would have to be fullmetal alchemist (both 2003 and 2009) and code geass.
