Yeah shiny Pokemon started back in Gen II. So far I've caught one shiny per generation, but it's almost pointless to go out and actively look just for a shiny until you have the Shiny Charm, and even then it's 1 in 1300 or something.
I remember how annoying it was to catch the first Feebas but I think every Feebas and Milotic that I've had since was descended from that one Feebas. There was no reason to waste that much time again.

XD Don't worry. You'll eventually capture one. With that Shiny Charm mentioned earlier, you can find Shinies more frecuently. In no time, you'll find one and who knows, it could be an extremely rare Pokémon =)

The only Feebas that I caught was in Sapphire Version. I've been getting other Feebas through the GTS and breeding. But none of them are shiny.

They're actually easier to find in the newer games.

Well the thing is that you have to fill out the National Dex in B/W 2 to get the charm. So it will still take a while to get that.
And don't feel too bad Sara. It's all chance, and at the odds of 1 in 8200 it's not even something that you can hope for when you find a wild Pokemon.

I remember they were such a pain to get in Emerald. I never really bothered to catch one until two years ago i was fishing via bordem then POOF. One female feebas decided to show itself after three years of hiding from me.
I've been breeding from it ever since. In fact a few of my friends asked one from me because they could never catch one. Good times.

The feebas I caught was in Platinum. You had to go in a cave and fish in a particular pond, the catch was feebas will only appear in five tiles of the lake which change randomly each day. So I had to trying fishing in each tile until I finally found on of the five that had feebas. Then I caught, like, 20 of them X-D

Yeah that's how it was in Gen III as well, although I can't remember what changes the tiles' location. Once you find a spot the percent chance of catching it it over 50% per cast.
