Pokerus becomes non contagious at midnight if they are on your team. So if you want to save it and use it on more pokemon you need to put it in your PC box. The effects are still there but it won't spread. But if you don't do EV training its not usually anything to worry about outside of getting a medal.

I already spread the virus to a couple of my pokemon and left them in the PC boxes. I know the effects of Pokerus since I came across it three times before. I'm just more worried about getting Genesect because I had Wi-fi problems in the past.

Ugh. I've only gotten PokeRus on one Pokemon game before, but thought it was a bad thing, so I ended up deleting my game data long before I found out what it really does. DX

Not really sure about the Genesect at least. If its still within the time limit you should be fine at least. You can even get multiples if you keep reseting your game. I got a couple doing it that way when I was getting the starters.
As for Pokerus I've gotten it a few times as well but only noticed it fast enough to save one set. So I usually only saw the symbol for the inactive one. But I have enough now across my versions to last me for a while. And if you want another active one Pichu I'll give you one. Not like it costs anything to duplicate it as long as you have a few spare ones.

Eh, I'm cool. If I get PokeRus again, I wanna get it on my own. But thanks for the offer, though.

Well good luck. The chance of finding Pokerus is slimmer than finding a shiny. And unlike a shiny you don't know if what you've found even has it. But like I said, if you don't do EV training it's just worth a medal now and nothing else.

Ironically, in my experience I got pokeruses way more often then shinies. Though I have a lot of shinies, most of them are either hacked or from trade. Guess it's just luck.

Pokerus isn't really all that rare i I think. I don't know hwo the mechanics work, but I have tons of pokemon with Pokerus.

Well encountering a wild Pokemon with Pokerus or breeding one that has it is supposedly a 3 in 65,536 chance (ref. Bulbapedia) so finding it initially is supposed to be about 3 times rarer than a shiny at a little over 1 in 7000. But after you got it, as long as you keep an active one in your deposit box, you can spread it indefinitely. Depending on the strain of Pokerus you find it can last actively from 1 to 4 days and after that any Pokemon on your team who have an active Pokerus will supposedly fight off the virus and gain immunity to it. This translates simply as it can't spread anymore even though the positive effects are still there. While it's active every time you go into a battle it has a chance to spread to another Pokemon in your party who isn't infected. I think it's only to adjacent Pokemon but I usually grab a couple and surround the Pokemon that I want to get it with the active ones to make it quicker.
So once you have it Pokerus can spread very fast and very easily among your Pokemon but the initial encounter itself is extremely rare. Taking a closer look I've only encountered it twice, and the first time I only noticed too late.

Pokerus isn't really all that rare i I think. I don't know hwo the mechanics work, but I have tons of pokemon with Pokerus. All i know is that Pokerus isn't that good for EV training. What i mean is its better to train a pokemon with Power bracer or power lens etc to get more benefit from EV training. Don't even get me started on the maths of EV training... And what Luci has said is all true, I haven't got the Pokerus since Emerald and i have no plans to waste time on getting it.
