The rival bit is pretty easy to explain really. It's far more likely that the Rival just diteches his raticate. I mean we've beaten Pokemon before. What was so special about Blue's Raticate? Nothing. THat's what.

And the Alakazam one is well known. In fact, Saudi Arabia banned Pokemon TCG because they saw Alakazam as attempt to brain wash people into Zoroastrianism. Unbelievable stupid but it's Saudi Arabia so whatever.
