I really don't remember how I got into it, it was a while ago. I think around 10 years ago my parents bought a gameboy for my brother and I and he got blue I got yellow. We got some anime video tapes along with first four movies. We used to collect the cards but never had anything to do with them except make up our own way of battling. We had probably close to 1000. We've always been late on the games except diamond and pearl which we got close to release date. But have owned and played every gen and most games.

My brothers got the cards and games(unsure if they started with gold/silver or ruby/sapphire lol) ever since I can remember. I "played" the card game with them, and they always watched it while I was in the room so I watched it too. I probably watched some Johto episodes, but don't remember. The first ones I really remember are Advanced. May was sort of a role model to me. My first game was Diamond, since I hadn't had my own Gameboy before hand and was more interested in my dolls.
I broke from the anime in DP because my brothers and I thought it was so bad compared to before. Nea the end of the series I picked it up again, then dropped it and decided to stick to the games and movies(they're always kickass). And here I am.

I discovered it when I was a young lad. I was about 6 and my cousin had Pokemon Blue. I was a kleptomaniac back in the day and stole it when no one was watching. I got hooked... until I lost it. Luckily, when I went to New York with my mom and sister, my mom let me buy Pokemon Yellow there.

I figured that I should give a simplified version of my answer.
I was alive and going to school when Pokemainia was a thing. That's how I discovered Pokemon.

I used to wake up early and watch TV everyday... so one day they started showing a new show. I got hooked since the first episode. I never really got into the cards game though... and as for games, we were kinda poor so I didn't get a chance to play any of the games until Emerald came out. XD

I just remembered what the first episode of Pokemon I watched was! It was the one where James was forced to marry Jessilina in OS.

Bumping this.
Back when I was in kindergarten, I visited my cousin's house and saw that he had a game for Gameboy Advance and I asked what is it? Then, he introduced me to Pokémon and showing the anime, he also lend me his copy of FireRed. Since then I've been a fan and collecting trading cards, stickers, and a few of the games. XD

I remember the trading cards. XD
Amusingly, everybody in my school wanted Machamp instead of Charizard back then.

During my school time, everyone wanted a Voltorb if I remember correctly. And I remember fanarts cards being distributed... Or not... I used to have one, I think, one of them needs a 6 combination to see the whole art.

I was in the second grade. My big sister was into the show and started collecting cards; she gave me my first starter pack and two of her own cards, it was a Bulbasaur and Magikarp!
Been a pokefanatic ever since.

In 2006/7, with Diamond/Pearl's release, Pokémon was a thing in Korea. Except Gold and Silver, D/P were the first games that got translated in to Korean and made it to the Korean market. So, I was in elementary school back then and all of my friends were buying this game called "Pokémon", so I decided to buy it and try it out. I asked my dad if I could get one and I got my silver Nintendo DS Lite with Pokémon Diamond. I soon got hooked on to it and although I didn't know much, I traded with my friends, battled with many people, and so on.
But, as time passed and the use of smartphones increased, many of my friends switched to playing games on their phones, which caused the popularity of Pokémon to decrease. I eventually lost my interest too and went on hiatus.
Then, two years ago, one of my friends asked me if I play Pokémon. I answered yes and from then, I got interested in the franchise again and found out about the anime, competitive battling, and so on. I eventually got to know about the AG saga and the idea of AdvanceShipping, which brought me to this fantastic site.
