Keeping It In The Family Challenge

As I've posted on pokecommunity this is one of the challenges I've made.

Objective
The objective of the Keeping It In The Family Challenge is to defeat the game using pokemon either from the same evolution line, egg group or pokemon that are related to each other. For example, your team may consist of a ratatta, blastoise, snorlax and golem if a ditto is their father.

• You may use any pokemon game you wish, including fangames.
  
• Hacks are permitted in easy and normal mode. However if you are using a gen I game, such as Blue, Yellow, Green or Red, then you may hack on the hard mode due to breeding not being available.
  
• You may trade.
  
• Breeding is encouraged. You can breed your team members to make other offspring during the challenge.
  
• You may clone, but should be tagged as a twin when you sign up.
  
• Rare candies are banned in all modes.
  
• You may use roms.
  
• You may use HM Slaves. In fact I suggest you have two or one HM slave. They do not have to be related to the family.
  
• You may start the challenge anytime regardless of where you are in your game.
  
• How your challenge will usually end with the elite four. Depending on which mode you chose, you may have to do this many more times.
  
• You're free to try the challenge again in another family.
  

The three difficulty modes
Easy - You may hack to your heart's content. Please bare in mind that the no rare candy rule still applies. Challenge ends when all your family is at level 50 or over and enter the hall of fame once. Legendary pokemon are allowed.

Normal - Hacking allowed, but no instant egg codes, no more than one legendary is allowed and no rare candies. Challenge ends when all your family is at level 75 or over and you've entered the hall of fame twice.

Hard - Family must be fully legit unless breeding is not available to you. Strictly no legendary pokemon or rare candies. Hacking is only permitted in Gen 1. Challenge ends when family is at level 100 and you've entered the hall of fame three times.

Relatives
Spouce - This pokemon has produced eggs with your main pokemon.
Sibling - Pokemon who shares both the main pokemon's parents.
Twin - A clone of your main pokemon.
Half-sibling - pokemon shares one of the main pokemon's parents.
In law - related to the spouce of your main pokemon.
Child - offspring to your main pokemon.
Stepchild - Offspring from your spouce, but the mother of the child is not your main pokemon.
Uncle/Aunt - sibling of your main pokemon's parents.
Parent - mother or father to one of your main pokemon.
Nephew/neice - Male offspring to your main pokemon's sibllings
Cousin - Offspring to any of your main pokemon's Uncle or aunts.
Adoptive child/sibling - Not directly related to your main pokemon, but are in the same egg group or same evolution line.
Godfather/godmother - HM slaves.

Here's one of my teams I did for the challenge:
Game: Black
Mode: Normal
Bellossom: - Orgasmique
Vileplume - Stinkie (Spouce)
Eggsecutor - Fluffy (Half-brother)
Chikorita - Chico (Nephew)
Liligant - Lilybaby (Half-sister)
Oddish - Sweet (Adopted Son)

I completed the normal mode and I'm planning to do it on another family at some point.

i try this after i finish my run through flora sky. one question i have is if you take a piplup as your starting person and you breed an empoleon with a randm pokemon (not ditto) would that count as family if the piplup and empoleon aren't related.

Interesting concept, although most of my games, especially the Gen 1 remakes I only use 2 or 3 Pokemon tops. And the third is usually simply a Psychic-Type as a general purpose disposal. Although I'd probably have to do a slight change from my favored pair if I do Gen 1, Charizard/Vaporeon, it shouldn't be too bad. Black would be the one I'd have the hardest with considering I know it the least and I hate that one elite four's Sawk...

Would be fun to try though, nice idea Chloe.

Ampplaca - Considering her example that unrelated Pokemon would still work because it would be the wife/husband of your starter.

Not a bad concept, Chloe. Hmm...I wonder if I could do that with Pichu...

Ampplaca - Well I saw it with the Bellossom and Vileplume, but that was before I really looked at the Pokemon themselves, heh. But I don't think I read your questions thoroughly enough originally and misunderstood you. If the Piplup and Empoleon aren't the same Pokemon, yet you want the Empoleon to be your main I think that part of the challenge would be lost considering you're supposed to beat the whole game with that single family. The only way I really seeing that work is if your starter and the Empoleon would have the egg, but then you'd only get Piplup, which might not be what you're aiming for. The idea is not that much of an extended family where one of a species is related to another of the same species, but one you can actually figure out from your own breeding.

But thinking back to my test runs into IV breeding, some of my Pokemon would have huge families. My Garchomp would probably have upwards of 40-50 siblings, lol. And that's not even considering what other Pokemon I bred with that Adamant Ditto. But I started to get bored with it in the end, especially seeing as how I rarely battle with other people.

matt what i meant is if i breed empoleon with something to make an egg and trade that over would that count as family since piplup would be my starter in a different game. the piplup and empoleon aren't related but since it is the same species would it work

Pichu - And as many could probably guess I would very well do that. It isn't uncommon for me to have an Eevee, Vaporeon, Espeon, Glaceon, or Umbreon on my initial Elite Four team. Heck, I think I still have that lvl 100 Eevee sitting someplace that I used as my team mascot, lol. But I don't think I've completed a full Eeveelution team yet. At least not in one game.

Ampplaca - Ah, okay now I think I understand completely. My last response still probably falls under that though. I think it's more following the family down from and initial couple of Pokemon, and not simply Pokemon from the same species. Though you probably could let it fall under adopted ____, so I guess that it might work. But in the end Chloe is the one who came up with this so I'm just trying to interpret her words and she knows more about it than I do.

Have all of them as a part of a battling team or just have them? Because I've gotten 100 versions of most of them at some point in time, just not all together. I know I had lvl100 versions of the original three (along with every other fully evolved Pokemon in Gen I, go item dupe glitch!), probably had lvl100 versions of Esepon and Umbreon in Gen II, probably Vaporeon, Eevee, and Espeon in Gen III, and finally the last two in my Gen IV games. I just know that they've never been together before. Either because of incompatibility or because I got bored after raising X others to 100.

Still would probably be pretty fun though.

Just have them. I don't really battle with any of them except for Leafeon.

Yeah it would count as part of the family.
