So I might have gotten a little carried away and beaten the first three islands. And Aether Paradise.
This is about where the story really starts to change from Sun and Moon in a...confusing way. Apparently Lusamine's goal is just to stop Necrozma. It's...actually a pretty noble plan, and yet she still acts very self-centered and uncaring the way she did during her Ultra Beast obsession in the previous games. I'm not sure how I feel about the change.

Hope you guys have fun with the game! I got US on the release date, but I can't play it now because of my finals and had to put my 3ds down only after getting my starter Is the storyline super different compared to S/M or is it pretty similar?

Psh, what are finals? Finals don't exist. *Cries in the corner* As for the storyline, there are a lot of changes, but for the most part they aren't hugely impactful ones. The big changes don't really start until reaching Poni island

So, just wanted to let people know, they haven’t updated Pokémon Bank to support USUM yet. I found this out firsthand earlier today. I was getting a tad bored playing the normal way. Even with the changes, the beginning of the game is just so similar. Not that it’s a bad thing, but I wanted more of a challenge, so I decided to do a Duolocke with both of my games. I went to move all the Mons from my Ultra Sun play through to the Bank, but like I said, it doesn’t work. Luckily, I was still really early in the game, so starting over didn’t put me that far behind (I’m basically back to where I was beforehand on both games). It’s more that I forgot about the shiny Yungoos, so that’s gone forever. Then again, it was a Yungoos, so I’ll get over it.

Welp, that may be the fastest I've completed a new Pokemon game. The new story additions were fun, the expanded variety of Pokemon was definitely needed, and the new minigames are addicting and actually give useful benefits.
The downsides: The story moved along faster than in Sun and Moon, but it was still pretty slow going. The changes to the story weren't as significant as I had hoped they would be, but what did change was, in my opinion, for the better.
The lag 3D Pokemon battles have always suffered from is a little less noticeable, but definitely still there.
Overall I liked it. It didn't completely blow my mind, but it was a good addition.

I came home for Thanksgiving break on Saturday; you could say I've had a lot of free time.
