I'll start by saying that I'm not all that familiar with all of the shipping, and that I take a neutral stance on the subject of who belongs to who. Just something I've noticed in communities is the hate and denial against certain popular pairings from some people, even though there is enough material that hints the two characters care deeply for each other. Since this is posted in the Fairy Tail sub-forum (as I love Fairy Tail, and consider myself the most familiar with out of the main series covered on here), this is mostly for those who dislike the Natsu with Lucy pairing - and also for the other popular main pairings, such as Gray with Juvia, Gajeel with Levy, Erza with Jellal etc.
This is not meant to attack or aggressively challenge people's opinion for disliking the Natsu with Lucy pairing, I just want to know why people dislike it so much, or why they so strongly believe Natsu has better options (Lisanna?), even though Natsu has most of his 'cute' moments with Lucy. Are there reasons that go beyond "I just hate Lucy" or "Lisanna is cuter" when it comes to denial of this popular main pairing?

I think some of those people might have that mindset of "it's popular so it sucks!" But I could be wrong

I just don't like them because they are so over used in FF.net. I'm so tired of finding stories with nothing, but them on there. Just want a simple, non-shipping, story.

@solarbear Lol, I agree on that, non-romantic fanfictions are pretty rare to find. If you're interested in reading one, I'm currently writing my first fanfiction (Fairy Tail) on there, which doesn't involve romance and if you don't mind an OC.  ( shameless advertising, I know...) Though to get back on topic, what I meant with the topic was why people who are specifically into shipping are so against some of the obvious pairings. |

About Nasanna, basically, it was due to the fact that we had been told that Lisanna is Natsu's childhood friend, and therefore must have a stronger connection with Natsu which is also shown by Natsu's devotion in earlier episodes that are nearing the Edolas Arc.
Also, the rule of Childhood Friend x Childhood Friend is in use.
Besides... even the author likes to ship the popular ones. Like it or not. He sometimes post on twitter some shippy images.
Also, ships like say, Natsu x Erza or Gray x Erza is bordering on crack on my view. But it's there, their bonds go way back since, good old best friends.
I could go on if someone specifies a ship for comparison.

GeminiNao That's the first time I've heard of such a rule. Though pretty much all of the Natsu and Lisanna moments were done in flashbacks of their childhood. Since they were still just kids and so young back then, it's hard to imagine them staying that serious about (though with anime you never know for sure...) Well, the Natsu with Lucy pairing was the only one I've seen a few people hate on, but I'm sure there are people who hate Gray with Juvia pairing (just throwing out an example), and probably prefer Juvia with Lyon or something.

Milennin The Fairy tail fandom is filled to the brim with shippers. I honestly believe there aren't as many shippers as there are Fairy tail shippers. It's gotten a bit out of control. That's why I'm working on a satire story that is going to poke fun on every Shipping in the Fairy tail fandom. (Yes I like to shamelessly advertise my own stories as well.)

That's actually one of the common rule in shipping other than main guy x main girl. Well, we might never know, the flashback moments are actually taken seriously, the Nalu hating kinda happens with stupid reasons mentioned by you above "I hate Lucy, etc.". There are people who don't like Gruvia, partly because of how clingy Juvia tends to be. Other pairings, like Loke/Leo x Lucy is also preferred companion ship to Nasanna, or Sting x Lucy, or Rogue x Lucy, the list goes on with Lucy's harem. A ship like Jellal x Erza thought, sometimes people just hate how Jellal never had the backbone or it's too much drama, etc. I'm sure there's other shippy moments of Nasanna in the anime, but in the manga? Well, I can say just flashbacks and a few. |

Lol not at all, that's just your opinion. Personally I don't think they're insane, they just have different ways of enjoying the series they watch compared to people who don't 'ship'. |
