Over at animebyt.es, somebody posted a thread about this. OLM, the animation studio for pokémon and Nintendo themselves recently made an announcement about this, where an anonymous person translated it. Post below is directly taking from the forum post over at Animebytes. Translation of OLM and Nintendo's announcement (found on /vp/) below: anonymous translator wrote: We at OLM Incorporated have recently run into a creative corner with Pokemon. The writers feel unattached to the show itself and we also have accepted the fact that the adventure needs to end. Now, I am not talking about the end of Pokemon itself, but the end of Ash's journey. Ash has entered the hearts of millions of people around the world with his positive attitude, but his importance in the show has marginalized. Just as Misty had to leave, and Brock as well, Ash must depart the Pokemon anime. This is not because anyone hates Ash, but because many love him. We want his departure to not be one of a dying elder, but one of a young man that will still live on in the hearts of all his fans. So, Ash will be leaving the series and we will introduce a new protagonist, and hopefully he'll be just as loved as Ash is today. I'm not by my computer right now, so looking for any confirmation about this is quite hard. What are your thoughts about this? If this is true, and only if, I'd say that this will be very interesting. It seems like they've finally decided to do something real. And to that, I applaud. Until we get direct conformation from the writers themseleves I'm just going to take this info with a grain of salt. Or an entire salt shaker. It works either way. I know the image is for a different fandom but it still counts.

Well the info was found on /vp/. For those not in the know thats the pokemon thread of 4chan. I'm not going to trust that info until we get an offical confirmation.

Oh really?
If it's anything like 4chan, it's probably fake then...
It'll be interesting to see what happens, none the less.

Translation of OLM and Nintendo's announcement (found on /vp/) below: And there's the line that causes all of my doubt. I can actually picture a massive flame war going on in the thread where that was originally posted.

Hmm, well whether it is or isn't true it is an eye opener. We have to look at it from all perspectives. From our perspective it may seem as a chance to promote Advanceshipping or, more in depth, well for me, a chance to end Ash's misery! I mean, come on! How long does it take to become a Pokemon Master? He hasn't even aged and his skills are disappearing every season and his Pokemon are weakening... the Pokemon don't even make sense anymore...
They need to quit making new regions and just start afresh if they want to continue Pokemon and bring it back to the classic hat flipping badass show it once was!
And to the writers, it's probably frustrating and I feel that they've run out of ideas. Because point blank it looks like that. Maybe they can start it again with Ash's son as he tries to live up to his father's name and what ever. It would be a great start for the show, so maybe I'm up for this. But that's if this is even real...

I agree with seanygirl296.
The main reason I dislike Unova is because the Pokemon look horrible to me, honestly. But let's not go into that argument.
I also agree that if this is true, it should be of relation to Ash (like a son, or nephew, etc.). However, I'm cautious for such because it would make one Ash shipping canon (unless they decide to use sisterwives...), and would cause a civil war across the Pokemon fanbase.
I swear, I feel like the writers are going to release a poll about who Ash should end up with eventually, even if it doesn't seem likely. That's kind of what I'm worried about the most...

I love the idea of using Ash's legacy. Perhaps to avoid any shipping mishaps they can use a great great grandson or something and Ash's wife is never revealed?
