I heard the max is 525 but peope stop at 252 why? ;o are those stats? A quick correction to Skarm's answer. You can have a max of 255 EVs in a single stat and 510 total, but since the bonus stat points are awarded in multiples of 4 those other three would be wasted. So that's why they all tell you to stop at 252. Generally the EVs will be 252 in two stats with the last 6 in one other with the two primary stats differing to what role you want the Pokemon to play. There are plenty of exceptions to that rule though but as a whole it's not a bad rule to go by if you're not sure how you want them split up. ---- And since this is the trading thread, anyone willing to trade me a Froakie or Amaura? I have almost everything else from the Kalos Dex so if you want something of equal value in that sense just ask. Also wondering if anyone is willing to trade their Ditto for my Ditto. I don't like not having an alternate OT Ditto on a game. I have probably about 20 just waiting in Diamond to eventually make their way over but that will still take too long for my liking.

For every four points you put in a stat you gain one stat boost. Therefore as 508 is a multiple of four an extra two makes no difference. In short 2x 252 for stats 4 leftover total 508 the 2 rest are just sitting ducks And people say they fixed this for 5th gen, so for 5th gen its just 508. I told her 508 max cause if you want to Make your team on a battle simulator it will say ''max evs 508'' if i would say 510 it would just cause confusion.

Skarm - Nope, still 510. I did a bit more exact EV training on my Mewtwo last night and still got 252, 252, 6. And unless I was off in my math as I was doing it, that's still as it's always been. Although I'm not really sure why it would cause confusion. It's simple addition. Saying that 255 is the max though is still best to say and not 252 though, even if 252 is what you aim for. If you're not careful you'll go over and lost that other point, so you need to keep track of what you've put into it.

Thanks for your concern but i never lose track of my ev training, i always start with the 6/4evs first then i can just keep training until i get 252 on the other stats i want. only time i really need to keep track is when training mixed Pokemon. And if you see me talking about 508 evs allot is cause i'm used using battle simulators like showdown. Btw where did you get this knowledge of competitive battles? you play on simulators or do you play wifi Battles on the ds?

I more meant it as a reflexive pronoun for anyone reading it. If anyone isn't careful that can be the part that's easiest to screw up. I figured that if you battle as much as you infer you do, you'll have your own method worked it out by now. My own way though is for more speed so it sometimes can get a little uneven and I have to be aware of what I have. Neither. It's all from self study but no first-hand experience. That's why outside of the fact I didn't go all the way in breeding 31 IV Pokemon it would take me a little while before I could do well in competitive play. To start to predict switches isn't something you can just read and master.

To start to predict switches isn't something you can just read and master. Congratulations your the first person i ever met that knows so much about competitive battles without even experiencing it at all, i applaud you. Predicting in the beginning isn't easy but i don't think its that hard i got the hang of it after a month and completly mastered it for the most part after 6 months or so.Its also nice to concentrate on one specific tier you want to master, my bread and butter is RU but i wouldn't recommend it for beginners 1 bad prediction can make you lose 90% of the time. i suggest starting with OU its easy to master the art of predicting there cause most teams look alike Its also the weather tier, rain, sand, hail and sun. after you know which pokemon are most common in weather teams you can easily know what to expect by simply looking at 1 pokemon if its politoad rain team, no doubt about it, if its Tyranitar its sand and the same for every weather. With pokemon x and y i'm positive they are going to make a mega tier so you can try that out if it sounds interesting.

Well if I had access to my Diamond breeding I could get it for you pretty fast. But I didn't catch really any non-gen VI Pokemon and my only Pokemon with Synchronize is a Ralts with Modest.
That's part of the reason I hate trying to find a good Nature without using Everstone breeding, lol.

Ah, the joys of the wonder trade.
So for those who have Yvetal, do you want to do a trade then trade back with my Xerneas?

Realised that I've had a King's Rock for 90% of the game while my Slowpoke has been on my team nearly as long. Should I do another trade evolution for it?
