Just an interesting poll I found on the internet.



It's a popularity poll of the girls in the Pokemon Anime - but with Japanese participants instead of western ones.

Basically it's:

1. Dawn
2. May (Although she ended up pretty close to Dawn)
3. Iris

Notice how Misty isn't in the top three.

The poll has been closed as of March 5, 2013.

Your thoughts on Japan's taste?

I'm certainly not surprised. I thought the discrepancy between Dawn and May would be much higher though. Not that I'm complaining of course.

Japan has some good taste then. Which is weird, considering I've never met a Japanese Advanceshipper or any sort of shipper for that matter.

Well at least Dawn and May did rech the top three which that good becuase both of them are my favorites (only becuase of Advanceshipping and Pearlshipping)

Not surprised, I heard that Dawn was pretty popular in Japan. Do the Japanese even ship?

Oh Japan definitely gets into shipping. While I don't think they use our names there's no doubt that they do. The original name for Advanceshipping was SatoHaru after all, and the entire shipping naming system came from that format. Plus many of the more famous Advanceshipping fanarts came from Japanese artists. So while it's hard to say how active they are, they definitely ship.

As for the results they don't surprise me. Dawn and May have always been well liked in Japan as far as I know. It is interesting though that Iris actually came out ahead of Misty.

It's not that they don't like the originals,

It's just that most Japanese don't enamor the past as much as the West does.

I personally agree with their views on that.

It doesn't mean they don't experience nostalgia though.

Two of my Japanese friends like Dawn and May the most, respectively, despite starting the Anime from the beginning.

My friend who likes Dawn the most has told me that he got pretty nostalgic when Charizard came back.

The term is "natsukashika" if any of you are curious.
