Because he's awesome. Plus, I think has to due with the whole creation process. Mewtwo was created by Team Rocket and Genesect was created/enhanced by Team Plasma. So, beasically, they're both really similar. Plus, for some reason, they've lately been connecting Unova to Kanto.
