I know many people have strong opinions about Twilight, and there's been plenty of vampire fiction that's been out ever since.
Dracula will always be a classic to be and I also love the Vampirates series.

I've read quite a few different vampire books! I'll copy and paste some descriptions of the ones I really liked.
Suck It Up by Brian Meehl - After graduating from the International Vampire League, a scrawny, teenaged vampire named Morning is given the chance to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming a superhero when he embarks on a League mission to become the first vampire to reveal his identity to humans and to demonstrate how peacefully-evolved, blood-substitute-drinking vampires can use their powers to help humanity.
The Chronicles of Vladimire Tod: Eighth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer - Junior high really sucks for thirteen-year-old Vladimir Tod. Bullies harass him, the principal is dogging him, and the girl he likes prefers his best friend. Oh, and Vlad has a secret: his mother was human, but his father was a vampire. With no idea of the extent of his powers, Vlad struggles daily with his blood cravings and his enlarged fangs. When a substitute teacher begins to question him a little too closely, Vlad worries that his cover is about to be blown. But then he faces a much bigger problem: he's being hunted by a vampire killer.
(There are also several other books in this series that are good as well!)
House of Night series by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast - House of Night is a thrillingly engaging book series that follows 16-year-old Zoey Redbird, who gets “Marked” by a vampyre tracker and begins to undergo the “Change” into an actual vampyre. She has to leave her family in Tulsa and move into the House of Night, a boarding school for other fledglings like her. It’s within the school’s walls that the heart of the action takes place as Zoey meets new friends, finds love, comes to terms with how her life will be different now and begins to realize her awesome new powers. Here’s the deal though: Yes, Zoey’s a vampyre now. But she’s still a teenager – with all the humor, angst and confusing feelings any other teenager has.

I'm sorry... I thought this thread was about vampire fiction... why's Twilight in it, then? Unfortunately, I've no positive feelings for Twilight... I won't say anything about the way it's written, its character, or anything else, since I haven't read the books or watched the movies... The reason why I refuse to accept it as vampire fiction is because the author ruined vampires! Vampires are (according to me) required to: 1. Drink human blood. They might act human during a certain time, but if too long time passes they'll become raging beasts that'll attack any human for blood. 2. Weakness against silver and sun... I'm rather neutral about the religious symbols. 3. NOT be able to run at the speed of light (as in, for example, True Blood or Twilight)... The humans should have a chance... 4. NOT have superhuman strength... although, it's nothing wrong with him/her being stronger than the average person. 5. They should not be based on some author's weird, sexual desires and fantasies... But, back to the topic: I've read Bram Stoker's "Dracula", also some book called "The Vampire and the Bottle" (was many years ago, and I don't remember much from it). I also thought about reading "Lincoln, the Vampire Hunter"... but I decided against it, since it just seemed too much for me :/

Because Twilight has changed the way people think of Vampires. I don't think there's any fans of twilight on this forum, but you never know.

I haold no opion over the Twilight series due to the fact I have niether read the books or seen the movies. That said I have seen the effect it had on all of the females in my year 11 Biology class back when the first movie came out.
I'm curious about "Lincoln, the Vampire Hunter" though. Sounds like my kind of book.

^I'm curious about that one, as well. I'd also like to read the books that the show True Blood is based on (The Southern Vampire Mysteries) and the Vampire Diaries books. I've heard really great things about both book series and that they're much better than their television counterparts.

Both my brother and cousin are reading the True Blood books and they say that, compared to the series, they're very bad. Although, I've neither watched the TV version, nor read the books, so I'm just forwarding the message

Oh, I see xD Well they've been recommended to me by several of my friends who read the books long before they watched the show, so that might be why they like them better. Either way, I'd still like to read them.

Vampire Diaries has yet to click with me. I haven't read or seen the show but it doesn't really interest me that much at the moment.
