I just wanted to let you all know that starting today, I'll be absent for about two weeks. My family and I will be going to Southeast Asia, including my parents' home country, the Philippines. We should be back on January 17, Pacific Standard Time. Until then, wish me a safe and fun journey!

Just got back. Unfortunately, my family's budget could only accommodate a two-week trip in the Philippines only, so I didn't explore the wider Southeast Asia as I hoped. However, I did have a stopover in Taipei, Taiwan, and my family spent the 17 hours waiting for our flight exploring the city. Using their subway system was strangely fun, with all the entry coins and hanging on to the handrails. And I got to see Taipei 101! It smelled really bad there, though. I also had a lot of fun in the Philippines, more than I expected actually. We went to Okada Manila and saw the fountain show, a beach, a couple of local but esteemed universities to get some apparel, a whole bunch of shopping malls, and a whole bunch of relatives' homes. I got to learn a whole lot about Filipino culture, my parents' childhoods, and Filipino delicacies. Even more fortunately, I only got one major mosquito bite (I got way too many the last time I was there) and that was my only complication. For some reason, though, my brother and I swapped roles, where he was the one who physically suffered in the country while I came out mostly unscathed. Not only did he get a whole bunch of bad mosquito bites that developed into bubbly blisters, but he also got a bad cut in the toe, stepped on a sea urchin at the beach, came down with a really bad seasonal allergy, and accidentally left behind his favorite jeans at the home we stayed at when we left for America. So yeah, pray for my brother, guys, because I can tell he's REALLY miserable right now. Also, I left my old Nintendo DS, Pokemon Pearl, and original Pokemon Ranger game so my younger relatives could play with it, because my brother and I definitely forgot about them. I actually feel sad about that; those games were fun and nostalgic. But I'm also glad the kids there could have something to play with. See, my relatives in the Philippines, while they are living considerably comfortably, are actually poor compared to my relatives here in America, and they can only experience so much of what America has to offer through YouTube, the fast-food restaurants, and the gifts my mom sends them annually. The area I mostly stayed at was pretty poor as a whole, actually, and it makes me feel both horrible and appreciative of the luxuries I experience in America. Anyway, that's all I have to say about my trip. I had a whole lot of fun, and it was a great learning experience. Aquadrop, I recommend bringing A LOT OF MOSQUITO REPELLENT when you get a chance to go to the Philippines. I don't know where exactly you want to go, but I can tell you that the mosquitoes there have quite a craving for that American blood and I assume it's the same for Canadian blood too.

Thanos WELCOME BACK! Glad you had so much fun ^^ sorry about your brother though... That's tough for him And haha, I'm usually the one that barely gets mosquito bites, but I'm always prepared with mosquito spray anyway! Ain't nobody want malaria or dengue xD
