How many people have they actually sent this to? And what credibility does this guy have? Will people actually listen to him? I mean I admire the efforts but I'm.just being real.

Sorry, but my resources are quite limited. i only got this from one of my affiliated authors, and it looked like it was copied from a chain, because the author I recieved it from was a famous writer within the ZEXAL franchise.

Alright here's my two sense on this:
I feel that banning these things is stupid and shouldn't be done...BUT we can't break in the Constitution in this. So many users aren't American, so the political junk of America will be no real debate meat.
Also, I agree with them taking away lemon and detailed sex-scenes, and am neutral on the rest. But violence? I think that if they're referring to gore and such, then I agree. But other than that I feel like violence is a natural and necessary part of stories.
I know people will argue with me about lemon, but guys this is FANFICTION. Not porn. We're not out trying to satisfy our inner fantasies and hormones through fictional characters. This may not be true for every topic out there, but it most certainly is for Pokemon. No matter which way you swing it, bringing Pokemon down to that level is not only immature and pitiable, it's just downright gross.
I guess I shouldn't be too decisive on this, since none of my fics are in any danger, nor will be for future plans. Good stories are made through description and writing, not necessarily the content. These things are almost inseparable, but the threads where there are slight gaps of wiggle room offer a cosmic set of possibilities. Personally, gratuitous (and look up what that means before you rage at me) sex and gore severely detracts from any story. And even sex and gore itself is a horrible landmine that if not tastefully done will just sink your story into oblivion, and lose any interest from any non-crazy or hormone-driven reader. Only the professional (and I mean real professional, like the ones that get their stuff published) writers can do it, and even they have to be supremely ginger with their touch on the topic.
I can't promise that I will be part of the blackout. But I can promise that I will support the campaign against the banning, purely from the standpoint of a knowledgable writer and a determined reader who simply wants to make sure that the devs at FF know where the line between ban-able and unban-able is.

my 2 bits:
If people want to write it let them. I can't stand censorship. You can't tell us to unleash our imagination and then hand us a huge list of things we can't write.

Only the professional (and I mean real professional, like the ones that get their stuff published) writers can do it, and even they have to be supremely ginger with their touch on the topic. Sadly, a lot of the fics that have been removed did include sexual scenes that were well-done and tasteful, or violence that was not excessive. This doesn't change the fact that content like that is against the rules over at FF.net, but it was still good work. A sex scene in a fanfic is not always about inner fantasies and hormones and it is not necessarily always pornographic in nature. They can be well-written and professional and can actually give a story or certain characters more depth, in my opinion. I've seen much better sex scenes in works of fanfiction than I have in "professional" published work, that's for sure. Saying a person can't write a sex scene in his/her fanfic because he/she isn't a professional, published author is unfair. Plus, for many people, sex is a natural part of life and is not viewed as gross or inappropriate, and to those people the inclusion of a sex scene might be a key element to a story's plot. They are entitled to those views. Bottom line, the quoted statement above is your opinion. It's not your cup of tea. You are entitled to think that and you definitely don't have to read anything that includes something you don't like. Cool beans. But there is absolutely no need to shame other people for their opinions and preferences and state your opinions as facts. What makes a good story is often highly debatable and authors will argue over that until the end of time. If there is something in a story that lessens the quality FOR YOU, that doesn't necessarily mean it will do the same for everyone else. If you don't like to read sex scenes in Pokemon fanfiction, then don't. If you think it's gross, fine. It's that simple. No one should be made to feel bad because of what he/she likes to read or write, though, including sex scenes in Pokemon fanfiction. Shaming people and stating your opinions as fact are acts that are far more immature and pitiable and just rude than actually writing sexual content itself. The issue is not your opinions, it's the way you expressed those opinions. A lot of us who have used FF.net for a long time would like to see changes made to the site. True, when we made our accounts we were aware of the rules and some people chose to break them knowing the potential risks. But it would still be nice to see the FF.net team give a little consideration to everyone and not just a select group of people, considering we the members of FF.net are what help keep the site afloat. If someone doesn't want to read a certain type of fic, it's unfair to demand that nobody should be allowed to read those kinds of fics. In this case, it would be nice if the site took more peoples' opinions into consideration. my 2 bits: If people want to write it let them. I can't stand censorship. You can't tell us to unleash our imagination and then hand us a huge list of things we can't write. Agreed 100%

-sigh-
I suppose I should probably remember how literal my stuff gets taken.
You're right. A sex scene is simply something I dislike. But that doesn't change the fact that it is almost literally playing with fire. Sure one or two writers could come up with something tastefully done. But I stand by the philosophy of "If you can do it 9 times out of 10 you're a genius. If you can do it 2 times, you shouldn't be doing it." I'm a victim of misinterpretation here. I never in any of my sentences used an absolute word. If I said "Absolutely only" I'd be giving you touché right now. But I didn't.
At this point all I'm going to say is this: I have a specific career in mind and that career can be life or death depending on so many things, one of them being the knowledge of prose.
What concerns me most is your blunt and direct attack of me stating opinions as facts. I stated my opinions as opinions, and brought about my insight and determined interpretation because of facts. I'd be more careful with who and how you attack in what way. You won't get much by me.
I already have a chip on my shoulder, and my being here is out of my own grit and good will. Please don't convince me to leave.
Cheers.
