Here's some interesting speculation for you

1) Fire starter might be or evolve into a psychic type. Main reason this point was made was because it used a Psychic type attack in the trailer

2) You might be able to customize your character. Speculation because the male is seen standing in front of a mirror in the trailer.

I've heard speculation of Chespin being part Ground, Rock, Fighting, and Dark. Fennekin could be part Psychic, Dark, Ground, or Fighting just to troll with us fans. Froakie could be part Psychic, Fighting, or Flying. Although, if Chespin was part Dark, Fennekin was part Psychic, and Froakie was part Fighting, the type advantage triangle would work both ways, making it hard to really choose a starter since each one could defeat the other two.

Although people tend to grasp the Fire -> Grass -> Water -> cycle more so than Dark -> Psychic -> Fighting cycle. I think it would be really cool.
