A moment of speculation about the Hiker guy in X and Y that gives you the odd statue. I'll put it in a spoiler tag for those who don't want to know yet. Plus, the list is a bit long. So we mentioned this a while ago, but I wanted to add my two cents. In regards to it, there was talk about a second region within the same generation (hence why there are so few Kalos Pokemon), but I think the answer is much simpler.
The Hiker states specifically that he does not come from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova or Kalos, but these are nowhere near the only known tegions in the game series. Where have the others appeared, you may ask? In spin-off games, of course!
My personal assumption is not that this man comes from a mysterious new "seventh region", but that he could very likely originate from one of these existing smaller regions. Here are a few examples:
Fiore, Almia and Oblivia: The sites where each of the Pokemon Ranger games took place respectively. Nintendo has been a fan of Ranger games since the release of the original DS, and why should that stop now with the 3DS? Personally, this seems to be the most likely possibility. A Ranger game taking place in or near one of these three regions is a definite possibility.
Orre: Site of the original 3D Pokemon games, not counting our favorite Stadium friends. Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness. This is the second region candidate for the hiker to come from. The Orre games are 3D, and the Kalos games are 3D. I hope for a bridge.
The downside here is that XD is already a sequel in and of itself, and the plot lines have been largely squared away. Why make another one? As a counter example, Nintendo and Genius Sonority have pulled off some impressive ones recently. Who's to say they won't do it again soon?
Ransei: Site of Pokemon Conquest, originally Pokemon: Nobunaga's Ambition. This lesser-known crossover seemed to be quite well-recieved by the public, and I can see how this region could be the candidate. However, although the Strange Souvenir could very well be an oriental figure after the style of Ransei, it's very unlikely that there would be cause for a second Nobunaga crossover. We've already tamed a god; what else is there to do?
New Spin-off: If none of the above hosts the hinted region, my guess is that a new side game region will be the origin. Let's face it--why give such a blatant hint about a new region right after the release of the games? Gamefreak is craftier than that. If not one of the above, this scenario is most likely, and will probably introduce a new game for us to play as well. Winners all around, eh?
Keep in mind though that everything I've said is just educated speculation and could be totally off. There really could be a new main region the man is from; but honestly? I doubt it.
Still, your opinions are your own.

looks like someone has been fighting plesioth lately, be happy its just a harmless pokemon joke. Two Black Diablos is worse than a Plesioth. That's what I've been fighting. Ugh, the pain for a Plesioth. Fighting two normal high rank Diablos is already annoying and if your a gunner its even more annoying. Anyway, A moment of speculation about the Hiker guy in X and Y that gives you the odd statue. I'll put it in a spoiler tag for those who don't want to know yet. Plus, the list is a bit long. I agree with a spin off since I think gen seven is too early cause XY has only been around for about 3 months. I doubt that figure will have any link with Ransei because that game is about conquering nations and not fighting over some silly figure. I've played Samurai Warriors and nobody will be interested in such a thing unless it held some mystical power to make all nations to belong to one ruler and so everyone conquers each other's nations in hope they have it. Also Rensei's story looks like it is based in the past due to everything looking old-medieval japanese (I know there is a proper word for that era but I can't think of it right now) and XY looks wayyy ahead of that time. A time travelling object now is it? lol, no. I would LOVE another Ranger game, I loved the first two (haven't played the third) and one of the 3DS would be heaps of fun. I just hope I don't destroy the touch screen in the process. I can see the object and Team ____ (If it is Team Dim Sum again I will cry) trying to get it for ______ purposes. It would be a great bridge to mention the XY games like they need anymore money like really

They just released a preliminary summary of the first XY movie. Click if you wanna be spoiled. From Serebii:
Once upon a time, the "Great Destruction" took place, eradicating all life in the Kalos region. The Great Destruction was brought upon by Yveltal, the "Destruction Pokémon" said to rob everything of life. After destroying everything, Yveltal turned into a "Cocoon of Destruction", in which form it still sleeps today. When this Great Destruction took place, the only one rivaling Yveltal's power was Xerneas, the "Life Pokémon". Xerneas was said to bestow life to people and Pokémon. Now, the journey to meet with these two grand legendary Pokémon of the Kalos region begins... What do ya guys think of this? I think it sounds awesome.

Promotional art for the 17th movie: And a photo of Zygarde and a description: This Legendary Pokémon spends its life unmoving, deep within a dark cave. It is said to appear when the ecological balance of Kalos is threatened, only then releasing its hidden powers.Hidden powers, eh? What hidden powers?

Thirteenth episode for XY, still no English subs.
Just so you know, there's actually no music in there. Likely to appeal to a creepy mood.
