Perhaps it won't impact that much, given that there was also some kind of expectation regarding Mewtwo's return and it didn't even reference any of Ash's previous encounters with it. Gary does look cool though; perhaps on par with the "original series" even, although it's still too early to tell.

Well I agree slightly, but from a small angle we look, it looks from Gary's pose that he's a trainer... So Ash Gary Rivals again? Slight chance is there, Iris tho, won't impact much...
