Nope... all choices are traps. I hard reset the game (deleted the important files) and tried other choices... but nah... Sayori = dead. No matter what :/
Something tells me the class prez holds some sort of supernatural power, loves the protagonist, and is trying to eliminate the other girls to be the "only choice". She also seems to be kinda sadistic... When you reach Sayori's final choice try going back to an earlier save and get all of the other CGs before continuing.
Other than that... Welcome to act 2. It gets worse from here on out. Yeah, this isn't my first Visual Novel rodeo... I figured that'd be the requirement to continue onto the "good" ending.

Okay, I've made it through to the end. Now I have to say... Monika is surprisingly best girl. Sure... things happen *cough* but she is the most expressive, interesting, alive girl of the cast!
Monika > Natsuki > Sayori >>> Yuri
Edit: Will try for the "good" ending at a later date. Thanks for peaking my interest on the game, Speedy.

That was one of the ideas of this thread after all. The other was to keep a record of how I felt of a game as I was playing it. It's always a hoot to look back on how one felt or knew at various moments of a game once you've finished it. |

Fuck you Monika. Fuck you. So I think I just reached the end of the VN. That was... quite the experience. Edit: Oh. I didn't... And after finding out how to get the actual good end I don't think I want to anymore. The VN is great and all and really knows how to mess with ya but even though they give you an option to do a hard reset that way you get locked out of the best ending is kind of a dick move.
I'll probably get the ending and then the good one later but that's kinda disheartening after what I just went through. How do they lock you out of the best ending? You can A.) delete the firstrun file, B.) verify the game in Steam, or C.) reinstall the game. From what I've read, you should be able to play the game as if nothing happened. However, that is the intent of the game. To be self-aware. To break expectations. To throw the player for a loop, unsure of how to proceed. To make the player feel guilty for treating the "game" like a game. Honestly, as I was "playing" (you don't exactly play, you're just kinda here for the experience. I think you make like 5 dialogue choices, to which they all end pretty much the same way?) I saw a lot of Undertale in this. It also has a bad ending that, if reached, prevents the player from ever getting the best ending. You also get a scene just like Monika's endgame. And such is their punishment. Of course, if you know the code for the game you can get around it, but then you're the real villain of the game without a doubt. There is also a character that is aware of everything, what kind of person you are, etc., but unlike with DDLC he doesn't go insane... just kinda nihilistic. But he still cares for the world he lives in. My complaints:
- There is no way to truly play the game like a romance VN, meaning the hinted endings and routes, etc. never get to be seen.
- No matter what you "choose", Monika's ending is pretty much guaranteed the first run through, and it feels like the "player" is never actually in control. Which, ya know, I get... but... it takes away from the enjoyment. Especially when you have to read through pretty much the exact same text 2 - 3 times over (with some minor changes).
- Monika cannot be convinced to stop (other than deleting her character files, but at that point she doesn't truly understand your reasons for doing so. Which was kinda like a wake up call: "You aren't special. You just happened to become aware first. You can still be deleted, and that is your punishment for what you did to the others. You took away what I 'wanted' so that you could be happy... but I can still take away your happiness." But ya know... she kinda makes it right in the end.
- The "horror" in this game never truly got to me. The worst part was probably when you catch Yuri in the hallway (twice). But overall? I could see what what was coming before it actually did (for the most part).
- The game is extremely short. However, the game is also free, so... I suppose this isn't so much of a complaint as me expressing my desire for more? Eh.
But it wasn't a bad game. |

So I've ordered Pokémon Ultra Moon and it should arrive by next Monday.
I'll be live blogging it here but you can expect posts to be spotty as I'll most likely be bouncing between playing it and Etrian Odyssey V.

So my copy should be arriving tomorrow according to Aus Post. I would of bought in the release date but the weather was shit that weekend so I couldn't make the trip over the mountains to pick it up in person. I could of driven to Canberra and bought it from there but fuck that noise. That city is an absolute hell to drive in.
The last time I had to do things in Canberra I got lost 3 times trying to leave and got cut off twice when I actually had a chance to leave.
