It's probably the most short-sighted thing they've ever done. The entirety of America should be hoping the Saudis file a case against us in the ICJ to quash it.
If we can make a law to sue another country in our courts for sponsoring terrorism, anyone else can. The problem with it is that sponsoring terrorism was practically the American national passtime during the Cold War. Just ask Nicaragua.

No. If an American sues Saudi Arabia in an American court and the ICJ allows it, any other country can make their own law to do the same thing. They don't all have to be approved by the ICJ because the first one was. That's why what we're doing is so dangerous. Abusing the legal system will become the easiest way to make money. Do you seriously expect an Afghan court to reject any lawsuit against the United States for a wrongful drone strike?
