Back in 2006 a person on Newgrounds with the username of Alvin Earthworm decided to make an animated sprite series in flash. This series was called Super Mario Bros. Z and it was a crossover between the Mario and Sonic franchisees with elements of Dragonball Z thrown in. Needless to say, it was pretty freakin' awesome.

Alas, it was not meant to be as due to real life issues and a lack of interest from the author the series ended up being cancelled in 2011 and was left on eternal cliff-hanger.

That is until last week that is.

SUPER MARIO BROS. Z IS GETTING A REBOOT!!!

Discuss your fond memories of the series here and post any of your speculation for the upcoming reboot in this thread as well.

Unless my computer suffers a catastrophic failure like last time I promised to update a thread regularly, I'll be trying my best to share whatever new news comes this way for the series.

You can find all original 8 episodes + original intro on newgrounds. You can also find them on Youtube. The one completed scene from episode 9 is also up on Youtube.

First things first: Alvin Earthworm now has a twitter account where post screenshots of his current work.

He also has a patreon to help cover his everyday finaces so that he work on this series. It is a fan project after all.
