Unless I missed something new, I'm not sure where people are getting the idea that Ash's Sceptile is here. Knowing the writers, we could be stuck with Sawyer's Sceptile. New scans showed up. Mega-Sceptile does not belong to Ash. Well that was a perfectly good waste.

That is, assuming we're going by the usual pattern.

Remember how we had Korrina's arc earlier where it showed that using a Mega Evolution isn't easy? Let's not give this type of thing to the main character who would know all of this and use it resposivly and instead give it to the newbie. What could possibly go wrong?

Actually, I guess it would be a bit, shall I say, boring? Ash not struggling with Mega Evolution as expected and mastering it immediately; it wouldn't be that particularly interesting to see. I would like to see Ash also struggle with personally handling a Mega Evolved Pokemon.

I won't be amused if he gets instant mastery over it.

I won't be amused if he gets instant mastery over it. Okay, so just to give Sawyer some defense, at least he doesn't seem to be as incompetent as Cameron was in Black and White. I don't like the idea of someone gaining instant mastery over Mega Evolution, but Sawyer seems to be the kind of guy that does his homework and gets better after a while. Cameron, on the other hand, was one of Ash's most incompetent rivals, yet still managed to defeat Ash's team of six with only five Pokemon, thanks to his Riolu evolving last minute. Plus, as much as I and others might want to see Ash with a Mega Pokemon, let's face it: it's not likely. Sure, I don't know what the writers have planned, but it just doesn't seem like they would let Ash get one. I mean, they gave him a Goodra, his first pseudo-legendary, and then had him release it just a couple episodes afterwards, even though while he raised it from a Goomy, they let Iris catch a freaking Dragonite and use it for the rest of the saga (That still irritates me, by the way). At this point, it's more likely that Iris would reappear and have her own Mega already. As well, I feel like it would get repetitive if he got a Mega, using it as much as Charizard in Black and White, and it seems cooler to me to see Ash overcome the odds by defeating Mega Pokemon with his own team members. But that's just my own opinion.

My guess is that Ash will probably have that 'Anime exclusive' Ash-Greninja; which will be his replacement for a mega evolution. Gah, still boring.

Some theorists have compared Ash's Greninja to AZ's Floette, which would be a great transition into the next movie if AZ and the war are brought in.

That sounds pretty impressive for a theory.
