My copy of Fates arrived in the mail the other day. I've been having fun with it so far. I do like the changes they've made to the dual guard/dual strike system for this game. It makes the game a lottttt harder, for better or worse XD Glad that you finally have the game, tho! That took way too long -_- Stupid Nintendo...

The attitude of the Project Naga people has been kinda shitty which is unfortunate because bookofholsety was nothing but kind to me when I recommended some changes to dialogue. Anyway, fans of Jugdral, you can check out the O-sawa manga here. The translations has progressed quite a bit and they're nearing the end of Generation 1. I highly recommend this manga.

Sophie's Paralouge can go die in a fire though. I thought Sophie's Paralogue was fine. But yeah, some paralogues are absolutely terrible. As for the game itself, glad to hear XD.

As for the game itself, glad to hear XD. It wasn't hard but it was designed around the NPC units being stupid in order to make them more stupid. That infuriates me to no end.

I got Conquest and I'm at chapter 11.
Hard Classic of course. I even nerfed myself by intentionally picking speed as my name so my character is show as shit. I'm also not using My Castle much and no kids either.
The first 6 chapters with the exception of 2 and 3 are bad. Lyn Mode bad. 2 and 3 are decent.
The chapters from 7 and onwards are good. The infamous chapter 10. Beat in one my first try, no casualties. So yeah, my assumptions were correct and it is indeed "baby's first defence chapter" as I called it on Reddit. That is to say, it's reputation comes from the fact that the majority of players started with Awakening or Fates and this chapter is literally the first proper defence chapter they've ever played and requires actual strategy and good unit position. It's a great chapter but both it's difficultly and quality have been exaggerated.
The biggest problem with all of the chapters (except 10 since it's a defence chapter) is that there is no anti-turtling incentive. I can take my sweet time and it really hampers the difficult.
Oh yeah, the story is shit. Really shit. I've been skimming through it since I've watched 3 Let's Plays so far.
I'll post my Castle address soon.

I forgot to mention this. I let Mozu die because I wanted to see the unique dialogue. But the chapter was so boring that I didn't want to do it again so I saved. The unique dialogue want even anything notable.
I also intentionally let Peri die because FUCK Peri.

Took me three tries, as Takumi's dragon vein completely destroyed my defenses, and I wasn't using Camilla (didn't know all lords were good...), Nyx or Serena so I was a bit undermanned. When the flood gates opened and the flying units came flooding in, wow that didn't go over well. Second time I lost Nyx and tried to save her by restarting. She died again the third time but I kept on anyway, because screw her and her terrible stats. Chapter 10 is exaggerated, but that dragon vein is a decent reason to complain. Some of your units have barely seen combat, while others are way ahead of them. And I've seen that it is fairly easy to get RNG screwed in this game. My Niles, which was needed for those flying units, ended up with abysmal strength. He made Dorothy from FE6 look like a superstar. And Arthur, oh Arthur you waste of space, you... In other words, if they had pushed the chapter back to say... 12 or 13, I think a lot less people would have had problems with it. With the new mechanics added in and the first 6 or so chapters being a complete joke, chapter 10 hits pretty hard in retrospect. For most chapters the answer is turtling and luring in, as the game encourages it. Bait a group in with Effie/MU and then wipe them out, rinse and repeat. That was my experience, anyway. Edit: Why Peri? Why do you kill one of the only good units on my team?

Yeah, the story in Conquest sucks major arse. On other news, I do like the combat animations in Fates more then in Awakening. I just saw a pegasus do somersault as part of a finishing attack and it was fucking awesome.
