Well, not all women deserve respect for that, since a lot of women don't or haven't given birth. People say "Men are lucky because they don't have to give birth", when rather women are lucky for anesthesia and men can't give birth. It's all in perspective.

Anesthesia helps of course, but enduring hours of labor still hurts and is difficult with or without it. What those men felt is also what many of us endure on a monthly basis, to put it in the most obscure way possible. I can take a Tylenol for cramps, but I still get cramps, and they still hurt, lol.
