500 random strangers. If I save my friend, I'll be saving the one person other than my family who understands me and accepts me. At the same time, 500 people will lose 500 best friends, so who am I to judge?
Not to mention that my best friend will kill me for denying him the chance to heroically sacrifice himself so he will be remembered and honored.

I'd go into dark detective mode to investigate how the hell I ended up there and find answers. And find out it's all a setup by the tyrannical government which is onto me because I have a statistical probability of undermining them in my future and they want to take me out as innocently as possible. Yes, I'm being paranoid. If you were in on the top floor of the highest skyscraper and it was about to burn down and there's no logical way to get out, what would you do? |

I'd sprout wings and fly towards the nearest time machine, I'd go back in time and buy a share in apple way back then, next I'd go to the near future and buy a bunch of gold and a time machine , the to the Middle Ages and find a wizard, bring him back to the day before The fire, I'd pay the wizard the gold to give my past self the ability to sprout wings, I'd take him back to the past after giving my past self the time machine for his house, then I'd go to the present and enjoy being safe.
