I sense where this is going, but I still love this game! So unpredictable anyway... *looks at JJ*
Anyway...
Remembering the faceless thief's compassion for helping those in need, and the fact that the peasants would be experiencing less-than-satisfactory conditions despite being invited over to a fancy ball, the princess decided to do what she could to help them have a great festivity.

When the time of the ball arrived, Sapphire searched desperately for any sign of the mysterious thief, but he seemed nowhere to be found.

(^Yeah, I guess this is what happens when the story starts out with a princess named Sapphire. I applaud JJ for actually taking the game seriously, a.k.a. saying anything that comes to mind. Bah, I'm enjoying the flow of the story anyway.)
Unfortunately for her, she saw that Prince Ruby had come to attend the ball, and she tried to ignore him, but to no avail.
