That cruddy theme you speak of has been around scince the start of the series. Just take a look at the first season and try not to tell me that "The power of friendship and teamwork" isn't a re-ocurring theme. Hell, it's been a re-occuring theme scince the GenI games. Well then, friendship and teamwork have suddenly become more of a focus than ever in recent years, tied with the whole "wanna-become-a-Pokémon-Master" thing. Thanos - Yeah, well, ignoring him, you probably should buy at least one of the games. Outside of shippings the anime is usually not as good as the games. I have Pokémon Pearl. And I never played the Gen I games because I was a toddler at the time, with no absolute awareness about them. Seriously? Get the gen 1 game! Seriously, gen 1 & gen 2 originals on the gameboy color have to be the BEST of the series. In my opinion, the remakes don't do them justice!

Honestly they're good and definitely worth playing as classics but that's a bit of nostalgia trying to override your thoughts. There's too many convenience pieces that they added in as the Generations built up that make me want to play the remakes instead of the original if I'm wanting to run through them again. You find yourself missing what seems to be basic features and makes the game seem more tedious than it used to. Though I did like being able to navigate through the caves being able to see just fine even without Flash...

I love how this has Origins in the title. It's like it was named after the fic. People would have more respect for the anime if it was more like this.

You find yourself missing what seems to be basic features and makes the game seem more tedious than it used to. Though I did like being able to navigate through the caves being able to see just fine even without Flash... I wouldn't call it nostalgia. I found the older music very well-done, better than most tracks in the franchise. I loved the old-fashioned graphics and all. The first two generations had the best Pokemon to me and the best feel. Good plot, nice feel, etc. I suppose partially I'm biased, but I feel anyone that wants to play the first two gens should play the originals, even Green if they can get it, just because it IS the first take. I didn't think the remakes were bad, they just didn't have the same feel to it? I play firered for awhile and I get bored. I play Red/Blue/Yellow/Green and I get addicted until I beat it. Idk, it's hard to explain. It's more than nostalgia, it's just... better IMO. When I said the remakes don't do them justice, it's that just because they've been revamped, doesn't make them inferior. But meh, I can't really define my madness lol.

Well, I'm almost eighteen. I was, like, four or five years old when the Gen I games came out, I think. Maybe, but I probably might have to wait till I go to college. My parents have recently become concerned about saving money. They wouldn't wanna get me a video game nowadays.

I'd freely ship you my old games, but you know, fond memories and all. Besides, not sure if a UK copy would work for you. It doesn't on my cousin's US Gameboy.

Gameboys aren't region locked. The 3DS was the first Nintendo handheld to region lock it's consoles.

When I tried getting my Blue version to work with his Gameboy Color it just never loaded up...

Okay, so this thread isn't so much news anymore as it is a discussion thread. As such, I'm moving it into the Pokemon General Discussion board.
