Probably pretty basic but I'd say the Pokemon games themselves are a good way to get back, especially the Gen I and III games.
Otherwise finding a good fic to sink yourself into is another way of thinking about them. I can't count how many times I get so wound up with something that my mind unconsciously shifts into expanding or planning about what ever it is.

Could you recommend me one of your fanfics by any chance? To be honest, I'm not really much of a Fanfic person at all. The only ones I thoroughly read were the supposedly overrated "May's Crush" series of fanfics. There were times when I tried getting into other AS Fics but they were just too out of character for me to read unfortunately.

They're all really accomplished fanfic authors, and have some of the best stories.

@azngamer405 - Well my top three at least are, in no real order, Final Challenge by Matkin22, Two of a Kind by CyberCubed (on ff.net via Mayziken), and PKM Rangers: Rise of the Dark Gems by ShotKnight. Matkin's fic is more adventure than romance, but it does have enough Advanceshipping splashed in. Two of a Kind is great in the fact that you have their relationship go from cannonical friends to boyfriend/girlfriend quite naturally and the entire fix is rather engaging. Add onto it that it was, and maybe still is (not sure), the longest Advanceshipping fic on ff.net it's a great read. Though the last third is a little bit different than the other two and quite a bit darker. Shot Knight's fic is one that takes place later in the timeline where Ash and May have already married and is a slight cross with Power Rangers. Quite an odd combination, I know, but he makes it work. It's also a darker Ash fic but it has the story to actually back it up and not simply like that for no reason. He does start to go back to his old self as the story continues, but being honest, even with the new updates he's doing to try and finish it, I've lost a lot of my drive to read fics so I've regrettably been passing up reading them. Even though Shot apparently liked my reviews. I still have them in my inbox so I hopefully will get back to them one day. But either way, powershot has posted a portion of it here on the site and the full story up to its current point is on ff.net. The latter two are some of the largest fics for Advanceshipping on that site and great reads. The three in total cover a large range of preferences so you'll probably like at least one of them, though I still suggest all three still. Some people would probably recommend some of my fics too but I still say these three are beyond my reach of abilities and better to go after first. Otherwise most of our staff are notable writers as well. Pharah is real good at little one-shots, LittleMissMidnight is also rather good, Gengar and PichuAuraGuardian19 are also well known though I haven't read any of their actual fics. chloe, well I will be honest, the few fics I remember from her are lemons so I can't give any real description... And these are just probably our most well known authors. There are others still that write but it would probably take time to really write them all. So take a look at them all if you want inspiration that way. --- Oh, and of course I should add the original ways I found Advanceshipping onto my getting the mood back list. Fanart and YouTube videos.

Fanart and YouTube videos. Two of a Kind by CyberCubed? I tried that, and couldn't finish unfortunately. It wasn't bad, but the darker portions just weirded me out. As for Powershot's fic, I'm really not that interested in Crossovers, sorry.. I'm the kind of person that likes his AS Fics to be true to the conventions of the Pokemon World as possible. I guess I'll try a fic from one of the rest on this forum, although I am really interested in fics you have written. I guess it's because I'm interested in the Author picking out the best of his writings? lol. I hear "Is He Really That Dense?" from you is an interesting read... Your thoughts? Lastly, I guess I'll try my hand at making another AMV. My mood is slowly warming back up to this pair aha

@azngamer405 -
Yeah I like to just consider the first two thirds the story and not read the last third as much for Two of a Kind.
As for PKM Rangers I will say that I use the term crossover very lightly. The only thing it took from Power Rangers was the suit and a little bit of the bad guy ideas, and even most of those get a Pokémon base. It's still Pokémon through and through. I call it that way because that's what it still is but it's not the type of crossover that you are probably thinking of. So I hope that you don't just pass it up too quickly.
Well I still recommend Final Challenge then. Again it has Advanceshipping but he simply decided not to make it the selling point of the story. It sticks to the actual Pokémon world quite well although the ending is definitely one that you'll remember for quite some time.
Recommend my own fics? Sure, I'm not usually one to boast about things but I can at least tell you which I think are my better stories. The top two, without a doubt, would be The Puppeteer's Wishes and Reaching for the Stars.
Wishes is my latest addition and also by far my longest. One of the things that I actually like best about it is the fact I take from CyberCubed's story something that I wanted to see at least once in my stories, where from the beginning of the fic they both start out as the same canon friendship and it builds then into a relationship. It's also a little bit more battle heavy than Stars because of a tournament but I'm not sure how you think of those.
Stars may be only a third of the size of Wishes but it's my second longest fic and the undertones are completely different from its newer sibling. While I still like Wishes better as a whole it's really hard to truly compare the two because each brings different thoughts and feelings as the story goes on. The alternate ending, If Heads Were Tails, definitely drew attention, though I did get a lot of people upset with me, lol.
Is He Really That Dense?, I almost forgot about that story. I personally have my problems with my earlier stories but there are still pieces from that one I like. Most people compliment it on the ending though as it is a bit more unique for AS fics. But in the end, as the title suggests, I try for a bit of comedic value with emphasizing the density of Ash when it comes to things of this nature.
Otherwise Ties of Friendship isn't bad and has probably my favorite ending theme of all my stories, but I probably overdid the Drew parts. Even if some were kinda funny. To Walk in the Shoes of Another again has it's moments and was probably the fic that stared to make me get noticed in the community, but now I know it could have been better. And then my How Lucky Can A Guy Get? and its two sequels, that one is hard to recommend. I like it and it does have its fans, but as a future fic with their children as OCs it's not for everyone.
As for my other fics, while for some reason my readers still like them, as I said before I have my problems with them. If I Could Have Lived Five Lives just sucked pretty bad, Night on Mount Moon, my first story, had a good plot idea but was badly done, and Will You be My Valentine? was mediocre at best. Nothing really that bad but nothing all that great. So you can read those if you want but best read the others first.
Well that's a quick overview of my fics at least, and more importantly the two I would suggest the most. And just so you know, many of my stories do feature Revivalshipping (PikachuxEevee) somewhat prominently. Especially my later fics. So hopefully it doesn't ruin things for you. It's really a mixed bag in terms of supporters for using that. A lot of people like it and it comes to grow onto many of them, but some just try to ignore it.

I'm in the mood of just reading some good fics and fanarts. Maybe for watching the Advanced series again.

Sometimes it's good to go a little out of your comfort zone when it comes to fics. Keeps things new and interesting from time to time, which can make Advanceshipping feel new and exciting again while still having that familiarity that drew you to it in the first place.
Yeah, it's great to read stories that feel authentic and close to canon, but if fanfiction doesn't try to test the boundaries from time to time then it's boring and the same shit over and over again. Especially in the Pokemon fandom.

True that Pharah, many of the fanfics have the same overused plot. For example, Ash leaves comes back all handsome, he and May get married.

The idea of marriage must have gotten more common in the last couple years that I haven't been reading. Back then there were only a limited amount of them that actually featured the two as a married couple, lol. Glad I focused on his family life and Pokemon skills more than his looks for mine though. As for Trials of the Elite Four from what I remember it was good, but it was quite a while ago I read it. Not to mention the falling out I had with my friendship with its author, and the subsequent promise to never deal with him again, I have a tough time recommending it. The fact he has a few insecurities about the favorite system and reviews only continues to alienate him from the rest of the community. Paul just can't figure out the truth for himself, and denies it quite readily.

Queen PurpleRock I - Well from the title I still remember that Ash has to go around and fight one of the E4 in every region to claim championship but I think it's Team Rocket that does some world spanning plan that Ash get's caught up in. It's been a long time since I read it. And I will add that the last time I tried reading it, the quality of the fic itself, story as a whole notwithstanding, wasn't up to what I remember, lol. Sebastian - Yep, that's Dryuu. Not many people around here still remember and call him by his first name.

I didn't know Matt wasn't friends with him anymore when we had an argument so I had to cuss him out. He made a comment about my mom because I have him on favorites and didn't review EVERY FUCKING CHAPTER of his work. I'm like you're a bitchass mother fucker that whacks off to Pokemon hairy nipple having living in your moms basement ass motherfucker. And your sister sucked me off too ya bish. Or something along those lines. Thanks for listening to my rant lol. I haven't been in a good mood lately
