Alright, so I came up with this idea on my way to work earlier. This is basically a thread where we will pit different characters from Pokemon (anime, manga, games, etc) against each other so that we can decide who is the strongest character ever. The way we do this is that I'll post a match-up each day, and it will be you guys' job to argue who you think should win. Whichever character has the most supporters will win. Remember, we are assuming that every character is at their strongest. So, let's start off with an old favorite, Ash vs. Gary. Who would win?

Ash would win if he doesn't get too confident.

Ash. He's got a great variety if Pokemon to choose from, and Gary has been researching while he's been training.

Well, it's one match-up per day...

What Pokemon do they both have?

Any of the Pokemon that they've ever had, but if you need specific ones (which I know you're going to say that you need to know), then assume that they're using their six strongest.

Ash would win against Gary. Ash is a really clever guy with a very unorthodox style of battling.

Eh, to be honest, I could see it going either way. I mean, we don't know exactly what Gary's been doing since Ash last saw him, and even as a researcher, he still managed to beat Ash's Pikachu with his Electivire. I think that Gary has a good chance of winning, but the same goes for Ash.

You're right and researching pokemon cant get you far, you even learn their weakness, but Ash traveling that much and gaining more experience gives him a edge. Plus to me he's Sinnoh champ.( tobias cheated, we all know that

Okay, so from the votes, it looks like Ash is the winner. So, now, let's start the battle debate for today with two people a little bit harder to read.
Today's match-up is between Cynthia and Alder.

Tough call. They're both very skilled battlers, with extraordinary Pokemon. Either of them could win, but since we have to pick a side, I'll go with Cynthia.

...Kind of depends on which version of Cynthia we're talking about...I'll go with her BW team? Cynthia: www.serebii.net/blackwhite/strongtrainers.shtmlAlder: www.serebii.net/blackwhite/elitefour.shtmlBased on these teams, I'd have to go with Cynthia, for more type diversity (too many bugs for Alder) and more general type advantages. Also, although this has no effect, I had a much harder time with Cynthia than Alder, and I had similar Pokemon on both runs.
